I always keep my priorities straight.
My name is Jim Syfan.
I AM TIA.
Like most people in the logistics business, I am extremely busy.
That’s why I prioritize activities that mean the most to me. After
church and family, TIA and my company are on equal footing.
I mention them together because Syfan Logistics could not be
as successful without TIA. Conversely, TIA’s strength comes
from a select membership of the top third-party logistics firms
operating in North America.
Personally, I have been involved with TIA since its
earliest days, when the fledgling brokerage industry
threatened to implode almost before it got started.
TIA (then known as TBCA) came together to
legitimize our industry while weeding out the bad
apples. We did this by adopting ethics rules with
teeth, creating CTB licensing and professional
training, and starting the Watchdog program. I
also helped develop the TIA Foundation, which
provides education support for 3PL companies.
Many years later, I remain involved with TIA
at the board level and through my company’s
membership. Like my priorities, I choose my
associations carefully, and my name stands
behind TIA.
