Bar-code printers: Toshiba America Business
Solutions has introduced its high-speed ( 12
inches per second) B-EX6 thermal bar-code
printers. The B-EX6 series can handle virtually
any label printing application
for manufacturing, supply
chain, and logistics professionals, the company says.
The Toshiba B-EX6 series
features Toshiba’s proprietary Ribbon Save technology, designed to optimize ribbon consumption
and reduce waste. According to the company, a large-capacity ribbon lessens the need
for frequent media replacement, while the
dual motor system improves media handling
while assuring the printing of scannable labels.

In-motion weighing system: Mettler Toledo
has launched an updated conveyor scale and
controller combination for rugged high-speed
logistics applications. At the heart of the system is the company’s 9477 scale conveyor, an
in-motion scale for weighing large boxes, cartons, cases, bags, sacks, and other packages.
When paired with Mettler Toledo’s IND570dyn
terminal, the combined IND9D57 can provide
high rates of accuracy at conveyor speeds of
up to 240 feet (73 meters) per minute, the
company says.
Two software packages are offered for the
IND570dyn controller: Expressweigh, which is
used for weighing random items as in parcel
processing, and Expresscheck, which allows
rapid over/under checkweighing in applications
like chemical and food/beverage processing.
Both packages provide U.S.-approved legal-for-trade performance and can also be used
in higher-speed applications of up to 500 feet
(160 meters)/minute for nonapproved applications. (Mettler Toledo, www.mt.com)
Carousel ship program: To shorten leadtimes
to customers, Kardex Remstar has launched a
“Horizontal Carousel Quick Ship Program” for
models with carrier units measuring 24. 5 inches wide by 24 inches deep by seven feet tall, a
minimum of 16 carriers and up to a maximum
of 52 with 1,000 pounds per carrier. All units
are delivered with a dual 2.0 horsepower Lenze
motor.
The Kardex Remstar horizontal carousel consists of an oval track supporting rotating bins
with shelves. Working on the goods-to-person
principle, the units deliver goods directly to
the operator at the touch of a button. (Kardex

Bar-code scanner: Denso ADC has introduced the AT31Q handheld 1-D and 2-D
bar-code scanner, featuring both close-range and distance scanning. When used
at close range, the device allows users to simultaneously scan and view codes,
which can help speed up work and increase accuracy.
The AT31Q weighs only 4. 4 ounces. Both a buzzer and alert light confirm
successful scans. The AT31Q can read codes displayed on mobile devices, such
as mobile coupons and mobile membership cards. The device’s high-performance
scan engine reads even dirty, damaged, and poorly printed codes, the company
says.
Designed so the user can quickly pick the scanner up from its rest position,
the AT31Q features an ergonomically shaped grip and trigger that reduce strain
during long work sessions.
Three user-selectable modes allow single-scan reading of concatenated QR
Codes or bar codes with up to three rows, as well as reading of an individually
targeted code even when multiple codes are in the reading area.
The AT31Q is built to withstand a drop of 6. 5 feet onto concrete and 100,000
drops from eight inches. A robust power-connector cover minimizes potential
failure at the point of connection.
The AT31Q comes with Denso’s Scanner Setting 2-D software, enabling users
to use a computer to set parameters such as reading conditions and data formats
based on the objects to be read.
The device is also equipped with a function to compare the registered master
data with the read data, which enables easy creation of inventory systems. In
addition, the supplied ADF Script application makes it easy to perform data editing, including sorting, extraction, and conversion, without having to develop a
dedicated application. (Denso ADC, www.denso-adc.com)
