Hybrid AGV: Dematic, a supplier of integrated
supply chain automated technology, software,
and services, has introduced its iGo neo CX 20,
a dual-use automated guided vehicle (AGV).
As a dual-use or hybrid AGV, the iGo neo
can operate as both a traditional walkie-rider
machine or as a fully automatic AGV. As an
AGV, the iGo neo follows the operator at all
times during the picking cycle, eliminating
the time-consuming actions of getting on and
off the machine during picking
to move to the next location
as well as walking with product over distance to the
machine.
According to the
company, the iGo neo can
improve overall picking performance
by up to 30 percent and potentially even more
when coupled with a pick-to-voice system.

Packaging-line monitoring app: Beumer
Group has developed the Overall Operation
Monitoring app, which maintains an overview
of all relevant parameters of a packaging line
on mobile devices in real time.
The new monitoring app allows users to
keep a constant eye on the status of filling,
palletizing, and packaging machines connected
to their system using their mobile devices. The
app shows all lines with their most important
parameters, giving staff important information on the effectiveness of the entire line:
availability, performance, and quality level of
the line or single machines; energy use; and
compressed-air consumption. The customer
can quickly evaluate all data and have it displayed in a target-performance comparison or
diagram.
Users can adapt the new Beumer Group app
to their specific requirements. (Beumer Group,

Bulk system: Reusable packaging specialist Orbis
Corp. has introduced OPTE Bulk for storing and
shipping packaged goods.
The OPTE Bulk is a collapsible bulk system
that consists of a plastic pallet, reusable sleeve,
and top cap. It is available in footprints from 32
inches long by 44 inches wide to 40 inches long
by 48 inches wide. Sleeves are available in several
heights, styles, and access-door configurations.
When full, the OPTE Bulk protects bulk products and tote systems during shipping. When
empty, the sleeves collapse for easier storing
and reduced freight costs. (Orbis Corp., www.

Packaging system: Automated Packaging Systems has
introduced a fully integrated counter and bag packaging
system designed for high-speed counting and packaging of bulk products. The new system, which combines
Automated Packaging’s Autobag 500 bagger with Data
Detection Technologies’ Data Count U-162 counter, is
capable of counting up to 25,000 objects per minute, using
a hopper, a vibratory feed track system, and an advanced
mathematical algorithm to ensure high levels of accuracy.
The Data Count U-162 will accurately detect variable-shaped products from 0.5
to 25 millimeters (0.2 inches to 1 inch) in size, the company says.
In daily operations, a bulk supply of product moves through feed tracks and
into a vision-based system, where it is automatically counted to a pre-set quantity
and then funneled to a pre-opened bag. This advanced vision system is capable of
counting multiple items simultaneously, without the need for product separation.

Electric vehicles: Wesley International LLC, manufacturer of the Pack Mule line of
material handling equipment, has developed the NXG line of standard AC-power
machines and towable carts. The company’s fully redesigned “stock chaser”
vehicles and quad-steer and center-steer towable carts are suitable for moving
materials across the manufacturing or warehouse floor.
The new NXG series vehicles feature an AC-standard power system that provides extended runtime, has a low cost of ownership, and is maintenance free,
the manufacturer says. Coupled with Pack Mule’s quad-steer or center-steer
towable carts, the new vehicles create completely customizable material handling
solutions. (Wesley International LLC, www.packmule.com)
