High Capacity
Spiral
Conveyors
High Capacity Spirals are in
response to our customers’ need to
go higher and handle more weight.
They are in response to our customer’s
need to go higher and handle more
weight. They can handle double the
weight capacity of our regular spirals
and can optionally have loads enter
and exit the spirals at intermediate
elevations.
The new W T Model comes in a
slat width of 30” and can provide an
elevation change of up to 50 feet with
only one drive.

Tugger AGV: AutoGuide has introduced Max 15, a high-capacity tugger AGV (automated
guided vehicle) capable of towing 15,000 pounds. Priced to be the most affordable vehicle of
its kind in the market, the unit is designed, engineered, and constructed to deliver the fastest
payback in the industry, the manufacturer says.
The tugger’s high load capacity boosts operational productivity by enabling it to move more
loads with fewer vehicles, the company says. Its electric hitch automatically connects to one
or more carts before hauling them between pickup and delivery destinations at speeds of up
to 3. 8 miles per hour.
The Max 15 will be available with two choices of navigation systems: magnetic induction
guidance technology and natural feature guidance (early 2018). For operational control, each
vehicle can be programmed to follow a new path or make more (or fewer) stops via a wireless
tablet pendant that includes a user-friendly, intuitive interface.
Like all AutoGuide products, the new tugger is constructed with standard components that
can be easily accessed for routine maintenance or repairs. Its modular design enables it to be
configured with different components to accommodate specific handling needs. AutoGuide
will release both man-aboard and forked configurations of the tugger base unit later in the
year.
Other standard features include opportunity charging to keep the vehicles running 24/7, an
RFID (radio-frequency identification) reader/writer to program tags directly from the vehicle,
and a color human-machine interface on the vehicle.
Max 15 will be built and stocked in AutoGuide’s state-of-the-art assembly plant in
Georgetown, Ky., which allows the vehicle to be delivered in weeks instead of months.

Mobile bag tester: Beumer Group, a provider
of palletizing and packaging systems, has introduced the Beumer Bag Tester, a device that
offers easy in-field testing of the air permeability
of any kind of valve bag, including all paper and
plastic layers, and glued areas.
Designed for mobile use, the lightweight bag
tester weighs 14 kilograms ( 30. 8 pounds) and is
stored in a wheeled hard-top case for portability
and durability. Data collected by the bag tester
can provide important information for the filling
procedure. Parameters determined by testing
can be used to improve the manufacture of
bags and assist in the selection of specific types
of valve bags to optimize filling machine performance. The Beumer bag tester provides a reliable check of bag conformity to specifications,
the company says.
The mobile bag tester features a filling spout with an inflatable sleeve that seals the bag
valve during the air flow measurements. An additional inflatable sleeve is included for valve
widths of up to 160 millimeters ( 6. 3 inches). A pressure-compensated flow control valve constantly increases the volume flow rate until a steady pressure of 50 millibar is reached. The
bag tester’s digital display shows the volume flow rate, providing a precise indication of air
permeability. (Beumer Group, www. beumergroup.com)
Conveyor belt: Intralox, a supplier of modular plastic conveyor belts, has introduced a technology designed to help e-commerce companies solve the challenges of sorting high volumes
of small packages. The new Series 7050 ARB (activated roller belt) solution is designed for the
efficient sorting of eaches and small items for applications such as order consolidation and
returns processing.
The Series 7050 ARB is similar to the company’s 7000 product but takes the technology a
step further by adding more roller density and a finger transfer plate, allowing operations to
handle smaller packages in a space-efficient footprint. With its ability to turn, switch, “lane,”
and transfer even the smallest packages on one piece of equipment and at high speeds, the
7050 eliminates requirements like the need for fenced-in robotics, well-trained operators, and
multiple end-of-arm tooling (EOAT) solutions. (Intralox, www.intralox.com)
