Benjamin Moore adds on to Aura
by the company or can be color-matched
to any specification.
Benjamin Moore has introduced Aura Bath & Spa in a matte finish. The mildew and stain
resistant formula is also easy to clean, durable and contains low VOC levels and low odor.
HARDIDE COATINGS DEVELOPS
NEW COATING FOR TITANIUM
Hardide Coatings has developed a new
coating process specifically for titanium.
The tungsten carbide-based coatings
company has successfully coated its first
titanium components for customers in
the UK and U.S. The titanium project has
been in research and development for
five years but has been fast-tracked over
the last 12 months to meet increasing
customer demand from the aerospace,
defence and Formula 1 industries. The
company is now processing small scale
commercial applications for customers in
these sectors and plans to treat regular
batches of volume parts later this year.
Benjamin Moore had added Aura Bath
& Spa paint to its line up of Aura waterborne interior coatings. Setting this
new formulation apart is its matte finish, a sheen that, until now, was prohibitive in a high-moisture environment
and overruled by the experts in favor of
glossier options, according to Benjamin
Moore. Formulated by Benjamin
Moore’s engineers to lock out moisture
and keep it from penetrating the film,
Aura Bath & Spa can withstand heat
and humidity. The matte finish retains
its subtle appearance and color integrity due to Aura’s proprietary Color Lock
technology. Aura Bath & Spa is also
resistant to mildew and stains, easy to
clean, and is durable, the company said.
The low-VOC, low-odor formula not
only ensures a safer environment, but
also means a faster return to the room’s
functionality. As is true for all of
Benjamin Moore’s products that are
built on the new waterborne colorant
platform, Aura Bath & Spa is available
in any of the nearly 3,500 colors offered
BASF INTRODUCES POS
PAINT TINTING SYSTEM
BASF has introduced PureOptions colorants—a point-of-sale tinting system
that can be used to produce a wide range
of paint colors with low odor and zero
VOC content per U.S. Environmental
Protection Agency (EPA) Method 24.
PureOptions colorants are designed for
optimal paint performance, maintaining
critical properties, such as gloss, color
reproducibility and blocking, without
adding VOC content. PureOptions colorants are also free of alkylphenol
ethoxylates (APEOs), substances that
are considered to be unfriendly to the
environment. Retailers will be able to
use PureOptions colorants with most
current in-store tinting systems. BASF
has developed a patent-pending plastic
container with a re-sealable lid that
allows for efficient transfer of PureOptions colorants into point-of-sale dispensers. The new container enables
retailers to reduce the chances of contamination or spillage.
