FLAME CONTROL COATINGS
COMMERCIALIZES NEW PRODUCTS
Flame Control Coatings, LLC has
commercialized TemperKote CUI-HS,
a coating designed for CUI (corrosion
under insulation) applications, as well
as a new hi-heat primer, TemperKote
1000 Zinc Primer. TemperKote CUI-HS is a high-build, VOC compliant
coating designed to prevent corrosion
of metal surfaces under thermal insulation. The coating withstands severe
thermal cyclic conditions to 1200°F
(649°C), boiling water immersion and
wet-dry-wet thermal cycling. It is formulated to form a protective bond to a
variety of metals, providing corrosion
protection under various types of
thermal insulation. TemperKote CUI-HS has the additional benefit of being
formulated for application to hot surfaces. The primer can be applied to
metal exhibiting temperatures from
ambient to 400°F (204°C). This feature allows for the repair and maintenance of hot equipment experiencing
corrosion under insulation without
complete shutdown resulting in a fast
turnaround time to resume normal
operating temperatures.
TemperKote 1000 Industrial Hi-Heat Corrosion Resistant Zinc Primer
is a VOC compliant, two-component
primer designed to impart corrosion
resistance in severe environments.
The primer withstands severe thermal cyclic conditions to 1000°F. It is
formulated to form a protective bond
to steel, providing corrosion protection under TemperKote 600 and 1000
color stable topcoats. These two products are the newest additions to
Flame Control’s TemperKote line
introduced in 2008, which consist of
color stable coatings in a variety of
colors that can withstand temperatures up to 1200°F.
STO BTS XTRA: NEW EIFS
LIGHTWEIGHT BASE COAT
Sto Corp. has introduced Sto BTS
Xtra, a one-component, polymer-modified, cement based dry powder
material used as a lightweight adhesive, basecoat and leveler in StoTherm insulated wall claddings.
These claddings include StoTherm
Classic NExT StoTherm Lotusan
NExT and StoQuik Silver Cement
Board Stucco claddings. It can also
be used as a lightweight leveler or
skim coat on concrete or masonry
wall surfaces, including Autoclaved
Aerated Concrete (AAC) and Insulated Concrete Forms (ICFs). Sto
BTS Xtra is a lightweight, high-build
basecoat and uses lightweight aggregate that will make it easier for contractors to install on the wall as well
as moving the material around the
jobsite. BTS Xtra will build to one-quarter inch to help level CMU walls
and builds to one-eight inch for
StoQuik Silver systems.
TWO-PART SILICONES
FOR POTTING AND SEALING
For potting and sealing applications
where bond line aesthetics are critical, Henkel Corporation has introduced Loctite Ultra-Clear Two-Part
Silicones. These adhesives and
sealants rapidly bond dissimilar substrates—especially glass—and maintain flexibility at both high and low
temperatures (-60 to 450ºF). Loctite
Ultra-Clear Two-Part Silicones cure
to handling strength in 15 minutes
and offer shelf lives in excess of 12
months at room temperature. These
adhesives build strength and support heavy components such as windows, skylights, outdoor signs and
displays.
Loctite 5620 is a fast-curing silicone
that cures in 30 minutes at room temperature. Loctite 5623 is a tack-free,
tough silicone gel that cures in 24 hours
at room temperature or in just one hour
at 100ºC. Loctite 5625 is a soft, re-enter-able gel silicone that allows for potting
compound repair and cures in 24 hours
at room temperature or in one hour at
100ºC. All three products can be manually or pneumatically dispensed.
BULLS EYE 1-2-3 SPRAY PRIMER
Zinsser proprietary stain-blocking technology is now available in an all surface, all purpose primer aerosol spray—
Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Spray. Ideal for small
projects or hard-to-reach areas, this 13-
ounce aerosol features an advanced
spray system that allows the user to
spray at any angle, even upside down.
The comfort spray tip features a wider
finger pad to reduce the finger fatigue

white finish. It dries to the touch in minutes
and can be recoated in one hour.

low odor formula that hides dark colors
and blocks stains from water, smoke,
nicotine, crayon, tannin, graffiti and
other common stains. It seals porous
surfaces like wood, drywall, cured plaster and brick for better top coat coverage and a more even finish and is well
suited for high pH surfaces like concrete, stucco and joint and textures
