SHOW 2009 CANCELLED
The Asia Pacific Coatings Show 2009,
due to take place June 3-5 in Bangkok,
Thailand has been cancelled. Event
organizers cited ongoing economic
uncertainty combined with recent
domestic issues in Thailand as the reason for the cancellation. The next Asia
Pacific Coatings Show will take place in
2010 for the first time in Jakarta,
Indonesia and is planned to return to
Singapore in 2011.

ARKEMA AND ZYVEX FORM
DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT
Arkema has formed a distribution
agreement with Zyvex Performance
Materials (ZPM), a producer of nano-materials applications, for nano-enhanced liquid epoxy resins in the
European market. The products will
be sold under Arkema’s brand name
Graphistrength.
This new line of liquid epoxy resins
developed by ZPM and Arkema are
high performance, multi-wall carbon
nanotube strengthened epoxies suitable for numerous composites and
adhesives applications. It processes
as easily as unfilled epoxy resin and
can be cured with a wide range of
curing agents. It will come at first in
bisphenol-A or bisphenol-F and a
soon to be released tetrafunctional
resin system.
CLARIANT TO ESTABLISH
CHINESE JOINT VENTURE
Clariant is establishing a joint venture with two Chinese partners in
Kunming in the Chinese province of
Yunnan for the production of phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5). Yunnan
Province is a key location for yellow
phosphorus production, which is the
key feedstock for P2O5. The joint venture partners are Kunming GaoHeng
Huagong Chemical Industry Co., Ltd.,
