Some days it feels as if the Earth is spinning faster on its axis than ever before.
Companies are under increasing pressure to compress cycle times and delivery schedules, and some “bleeding-edge”
companies are even chasing a dream of
same-day delivery.
The National Logistics and
Distribution Conference (NLDC), to
be held on the Georgia Tech campus
in Atlanta from April 13–15, aims to
provide guidance to supply chain executives during these speed-driven times.
The keynote address, for example, will be
given by Jonathan Edwards, whose company Sky Ward makes commercial drones,
which have the potential to reshape the
future of home delivery.
NLDC is an annual summit where
invited senior supply chain executives
hear about best practices from other leaders, participate in candid discussions, and
network with peers from various industries. Speakers will include executives
from Home Depot, Starbucks, Walmart,
Chick-fil-A, and Genuine Parts Co. Other
events include a golf tournament and a
tour of a Home Depot distribution and
fulfillment center. ( nldcinfo.com)
The Warehousing Education and Research Council (WERC) is taking its annu-
al conference to the Sunshine State this year to celebrate its conference
theme: “It’s time to bring solutions to light.”
From May 3–6, logistics professionals will gather in Orlando, Fla., to hear
about practical solutions to their key warehousing and logistics challenges.
More than 80 educational sessions will cover topics such as using lead-

and understanding the secondary market.
Speakers include a mix of leading academics, consultants, and practitioners from
companies such as Ingersoll Rand and
Intermountain Healthcare.
The concurrent Warehousing Industry
Resource Event (WIRE), cohosted by DC
VELOCITY, allows attendees to check out the
latest warehouse products and services
from leading material handling and logistics service providers. The conference also
includes networking events and facility
tours. ( www.werc.org/2015)
