Industrial batteries:
EnerSys, a provider of
stored energy solutions
for industrial applications, recently introduced
the NexSys 12NXS120
and 12NXS158 Thin Plate
Pure Lead (TPPL) batteries. Due to the
power-dense TPPL construction, NexSys
batteries typically occupy 30 percent less
space than the equivalent lead calcium
product.
Ideal for multishift operations, NexSys batteries allow for rapid
charging during shift breaks, with extended battery run times
well beyond those of conventional batteries, the company says.
Virtually maintenance-free, they are well suited for small traction
applications, including floor care and cleaning machines, pallet
trucks, shuttle personnel carriers, and industrial utility vehicles.
The NexSys 120-AH battery measures 13. 31 inches in length,
6.81 inches in width, and 10. 71 inches in height. It weighs
94.8 pounds. The NexSys 158-AH battery measures 17. 9 inches
in length, 6. 66 inches in width, and 10. 75 inches in height. It
weighs 117 pounds. (EnerSys, www.enersys.com)
Mobile dimensioning device: Mettler Toledo’s new handheld mobile dimensioning device, the CSN110 ScanTape, is
small enough to fit into the palm of your hand, yet can quickly
and accurately measure parcels and pallets.
ScanTape replaces a traditional tape measure and eliminates
manual data entry. It also has programmable data capture and
Bluetooth transfer, which reduce human error. ScanTape can
be used at any point in the goods-transfer process. It is ideal
for pickup or reclassification of pallets or packages and can
also be used in smaller-volume DCs that want to automate
the measurement process without significant monetary investment, the company says.
ScanTape has a durable rubber cover and a lithium-ion
battery that allows for two days of heavy use before recharge.
Bluetooth data transfer and bar-code reading capabilities also
mean users can send a complete parcel data profile wirelessly
from a floor, forklift, or bench scale to a PDA, PC, or printer.
Data can be batched or transferred as captured using live
mode. Preconfigurable workflows for often-repeated measuring procedures are available. (Mettler Toledo, www.mt.com/

Pick-to-light solution: Wynright Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Daifuku Webb and a U.S.-based supplier of intelligent
material handling systems, has released a new pick-to-light
solution that displays alphanumeric characters to help pickers
who are fulfilling multiple orders concurrently. The alphanumeric LED display can support single and/or batch picking.
The new CAPS Next–A004 pick-to-light solution is built to
support omnichannel, e-commerce, retail, manufacturing, and
goods-to-persons order fulfillment. CAPS Next–A004 improves
picking accuracy to 99.9 percent and increases productivity
anywhere from 20 to 40 percent over traditional paper methods, according to Wynright.
CAPS Next–A004 integrates with Wynright’s Wynsoft order
fulfillment suite and can support multilocation, multicolor, and
multimode (blinking vs. solid light) pick-to-light operations.
Locations or slots can be changed without any tools. (Wynright

Vertical lift module: Integrated Systems Design’s heavyweight vertical lift modules (VLMs) are a new generation of
VLMs designed to handle up to 2,204 pounds per tray.
A vertical lift module is a column with a series of trays in the
front and back, and an insertion/extraction device that runs in
the center of the column, delivering trays to an ergonomic pick
window. VLMs are used either as standalone workstations or in
multiple units integrated with software in an array called a pod.
The VLMs’ modularity allows the systems to be moved and
their heights to be changed as needs shift. Likewise, units can
be added over time to meet increasing capacity requirements.
With the new 2,204-pound tray capacity, the VLMs can handle heavier products and materials, higher quantities of items,
high-value pallets, containers, and much more. Depending on
the application, additional equipment can be integrated, such
as carts, conveyors, pick and put lights, batch stations, weigh
scales, and bar-code readers. (Integrated Systems Design,
