Forklift engines: Hyster Co. has launched
a new line of industrial engines designed to
increase productivity and fuel economy for
its 3,000- to 7,000-pound Class IV and V
product lines.
The new engines from Power Solutions
International (PSI) feature Hyster Variable
Power Technology, which provides adjustable
performance modes. According to Hyster, this
feature allows customers to balance enhanced
performance and superior fuel economy or to
maximize productivity during peak business
periods when moving more loads.
The Hyster S30-40FTS cushion tire trucks
and H30-40FTS pneumatic tire trucks include
the new PSI 2.0L LP engine. Higher-capacity
models including the Hyster S40-70FT and
S50CT cushion tire trucks and H40-70FT and
H50CT pneumatic tire trucks contain the new
PSI 2.4L LP or dual fuel engine. The optional
dual fuel engine provides flexibility to run on
liquid propane (LP) or gas, an ideal feature for
rental applications.
The PSI engines also use the latest E-controls
fuel system with an electronically controlled
regulator, which helps them realize greater
fuel efficiency and improve emissions. Hyster
trucks powered by the new PSI engines see
increased maximum travel and hoist speeds,
with or without a load, and increased horsepower, up to 10 percent over the previous
engine, according to the company.
During development, the new industrial
engines endured over 30,000 hours of rigorous testing, confirming engine component
durability and performance dependability.
This toughness is reflected in the extended
service intervals and elimination of previous maintenance requirements. (Hyster Co.,

Case packer: The Performance-Series
PC-2500 is the newest and most affordable
addition to Arpac’s line of case packers. The
PC-2500 is a continuous motion wraparound
case and tray packer capable of reaching
speeds of up to 25 cases/trays per minute.
The PC-2500 uses up to 20 percent less corrugated material than conventional regular slotted
case packing systems, the company says. The
packer is designed to work with metal and paper
cans, glass jars and bottles, and plastic jars and
bottles.
The PC-2500 receives product, groups it
into patterns, automatically feeds corrugated
blanks, forms them around the product pattern,
applies hot-melt glue, holds the wraparound
case in compression, and then completes the
cycle by producing a shippable case. (Arpac,

Kanban label holder: The Kanban Extended Label Holder from Akro-Mils can
transform the company’s bins into a single-bin “kanban” system. Kanban is a
“Lean” or just-in-time process that uses visual signals, such as colored cards, to
align inventory levels with actual consumption.
Akro-Mils’ Kanban Extended Label Holder features a bright orange kanban flag
that slides out to indicate that stock is low and the bin needs to be refilled.
The label holder has a two- by four-inch angled face, which enables easy reading.
It can be installed with the label area facing upward (for viewing on low shelves) or
downward (for viewing on high shelves). (Akro-Mils, www.akro-mils.com)
