Store fulfillment software: HighJump, a global provider of supply chain management software, has released its newest solution, HighJump Retail Advantage for in-store fulfillment.
HighJump Retail Advantage helps retailers and grocers optimize fulfillment processes to meet
the demands of omnichannel customers. It drives the movement of goods from receipt, to the
backroom, to the store shelf, and to replenishment.
The solution integrates with store point-of-sale (POS), planograms, order management, and
ERP systems. Its additional functionalities include cycle counting and inventory adjustment
controls to maintain store inventory accuracy. It also provides a single pool of inventory per
product, which can be accessed by all channels, and fulfillment prioritization rules that are
shared among online, home delivery, store requirements, and wholesale orders.
Retail Advantage can also handle unique fulfillment requirements, such as temperature-sen-sitive control to maintain freshness in grocery stores or image display to locate products. It
offers configurable, value-added services management for activities such as labeling, kitting,
and assembly. The solution can also provide store receipt processing with support for advance
shipping notice and purchase order receipt processes with directed put-away for streamlined
work flow.
HighJump’s Retail Advantage is architecturally similar to the company’s Warehouse
Advantage warehouse management system (WMS). As a result, customers can deploy the
same platform for both dedicated fulfillment center operations and in-store fulfillment activities. (HighJump Software Inc., www.highjump.com)
Clamp-force control system: Cascade
Corp., a provider of lift truck attachments,
forks, and accessories, has released TFC

that provides the lift truck driver with the
ability to apply the perfect clamp force every
time. The newest in Cascade’s line of clamp-force control systems, TFC can improve load
handling in warehousing applications. It’s
an easy-to-use, intuitive, and user-friendly
system utilizing touchscreen technology to
select proper clamp force and reduce product damage, according to the company.

This customizable pressure-control device is targeted primarily for use with Cascade carton
clamps but is also suitable for paper roll clamps, layer pickers, or any application where regulating clamp force is required.
To use TFC, forklift drivers need to first visually identify the load to be handled and then
select the load configuration. TFC will then automatically select the proper clamp force for that
load, eliminating the need for drivers to consult complicated charts or rely on their memory.
Cascade says the TFC is easy to learn to use. New drivers can master the basics in 10 minutes and can be trained on the entire system in less than 60 minutes, according to Cascade.

On-site pallet assembly machine: Lifdek Corp., a developer of corrugated paper pallet technology, is launching a pallet assembly system that allows users to make corrugated pallets on
site.
To construct the pallets, the Lifdek assembly machine takes two flat corrugated “blanks”
and folds them together without the use of adhesives or staples. According to the company,
Lifdek’s assembly tables and machines allow these two blanks to be fully assembled in as little
as 30 seconds. Lifdek estimates that one machine running for one shift could produce roughly
200,000 pallets per year.
Lifdek licenses the pallet technology to distributors and customers, which procure their
blanks directly from their local corrugated board provider. Licensees have access to numerous
pallet sizes and designs, with new sizes available typically in two to three days. Use of the
machines is made free with a $15,000 deposit, which is completely refundable based on pallet
purchases.
Lifdek has started production of its pallet assembly machines with Ofab Inc., a contract
equipment manufacturer in Ocala, Fla. (Lifdek Corp., www.lifdek.com)
