Pallet dolly: In a departure from traditional
handling methods for supply chain/distri-bution, Orbis Corp. has created The Pally, a
product that is part
pallet and part dolly.
Designed to meet
distribution needs
across a range of
applications, the
Pally combines the mobility of a dolly with
the functionality of a static pallet to enable
new and enhanced material handling capabilities. This unique performance results in
greater end-to-end supply chain versatility for
increased efficiency, the company says.
When mobile, the Pally quickly converts to
static mode with a press of the pedal. When
the unit is static, the rubber braking stabilizers
ensure the Pally withstands lateral force.
The Pally is designed for a long service life
in a variety of rugged distribution environments. For small-format retailers, the Pally
supports frequent product deliveries and easily maneuvers in tight spaces. It is ideal for
omnichannel applications, a growing trend
in retail stores and distribution centers. It is
available in two footprints: 31. 5 inches by
23. 6 inches (800mm by 600mm) and 39. 4
inches by 23. 6 inches (1000mm by 600mm).

Dimensioning equipment: Quantronix Inc.’s
new CubiScan 75 is an advanced overhead
dimensioning device that uses 3-D cameras
to quickly and accurately measure parcels in
low- to high-volume shipping applications.
The CubiScan 75 makes it easy to determine
accurate dimensions for outbound parcels
and other daily shipments.
The new parcel-scanning system has no
moving parts, making the device user-instal-lable and easy to maintain. Its simple overhead design allows packages to be placed
on the device from almost any direction. The
CubiScan 75 can seamlessly integrate with
shipping software, a bar-code scanner, and
a label printer to create a complete shipping/
manifesting workstation.
The CubiScan 75 is capable of measuring an object that is placed on the scale in
a matter of seconds with a measurement
capacity of up to 40 inches long, 28 inches
wide, and 24 inches high. It has a resolution
of 0.2 inches plus an integrated 10-inch color
display, showing the measurement results
for the user. CubiScan’s proprietary software interface, Qbit, will pass accurate parcel
dimensions to almost any shipping system.

Automated guided vehicle: AutoGuide has introduced the TV1000, a low-profile
automated guided vehicle (AGV) that tunnels under its loads to optimize assembly
line processes and lean manufacturing.
The AutoGuide TV1000 transports materials through pickup and delivery routines. Its low profile allows it to tunnel under a cart, automatically hitch to it, and
move it along a magnetic path. The computer-controlled unit features a modular
design that allows for configurations that result in easier handling, more cost-effi-cient maintenance, and arrangements that can be switched to precisely fit specific
needs. (AutoGuide, www.AutoGuideAGVs.com)
