Jotun signs its biggest contract ever in China

Jotun Cosco Marine Coatings (JCMC)
has signed a paint contract for 80 vessels
to be built at Dayang Shipyard. This is
not only the first NB contract Jotun
China secured in 2008, but also the
biggest contract ever in the history of
Jotun. The total contract value is approximately $50 million, and includes a total
volume of 10 million liters of paint to be
supplied for 75 x 58,000 DWT bulk carriers and 5 x 16,500 cubic meter LPG.
Dayang Shipyard is a middle size
shipyard along the Yangtze River. Jotun
has a market share of approximately
90% in this shipyard. The process
towards winning this contract started
almost one year ago through several
meetings with representatives from
both the yard and the involved owners,
both in China and abroad.

Wink Vogel, chairman of Cloverdale
Paint said in a statement he is
extremely pleased with the compatibility and synergies of Guertin and
Cloverdale. Both are private western
Canadian owned firms and serve the
industrial coatings market. Cloverdale
intends to operate Guertin as a separate entity with existing management
and to maintain Guertin’s products,
distribution, brands and Winnipeg
manufacturing facility.

Cloverdale Paint, Inc. of Surrey, British
Columbia, Canada has acquired
Guertin Coatings of Winnipeg,
Manitoba, Canada. Founded in 1947 by
Antoine and Norbert Guertin, the company has been operated by Phil Guertin
and brother Charlie since 1987. Guertin

RESEARCH AND TECHNICAL CENTER
Recapping results in 2007 DuPont-Russian Paints Ltd. said the research
and production JV of the two companies will continue the localization of
DuPont semi-finished materials and
car coatings on the production capacities of Russian Paints in Yaroslavl. In
2007, semi-finished varnishes and pigment pastes were adapted for two-layer coatings production. The JV
started production and supplies of efficient basic enamels to Russian car-making plants. At the beginning of
