AKZO NOBEL LAUNCHES
FURNITURE COATINGS
Akzo Nobel’s powder coating business unit has launched a powder
coating brand exclusively dedicated
to the furniture market. Branded
Interpon F, the range brings to the
market both a step-change in technical performance and a range of
colors designed especially for the
furniture market.
To meet the technical requirements of the market Akzo launched
two new ranges, for interior
(Interpon F1000) and exterior
(Interpon F1500) applications.
Scratching is a major problem in
the furniture industry, both during
transportation and use, and mar-ket-leading scratch resistance is
the major improvement seen in
these new products, according to
WEST SYSTEM OFFERS
ALUMINUM POWDER
Just as the sun’s ultraviolet rays can
burn skin, they can also damage epoxy
coatings that are unprotected by paint.
But, it’s not always possible to get an outdoor epoxy project painted right away.
West System’s 420 Aluminum
Powder.
This is where West System brand 420
Aluminum Powder can buy some time
for the epoxy coating on a boat construction or repair project. When mixed with
epoxy, 420 Aluminum Powder creates a
coating that hinders UV rays from
the company. Interpon F is available in Contemporary and Trend
varieties.
degrading epoxy for those times when a
project can’t get painted right away.
A little like sunscreen, 420 Aluminum
Powder offers temporary UV shielding
to areas temporarily unprotected by
paint. It also improves the moisture
resistance of a coated surface and
increases its hardness and abrasion
resistance. This aluminum powder additive turns a metallic gray color when the
epoxy cures.
CORTEC INTRODUCES ECOLINE 3690
Cortec Corporation recently developed a biodegradable, ready-to-use,
self-healing, moisture-displacing,
temporary protective coating for corrosion control of metal surfaces.
Derived from canola oil, EcoLine
3690 is 80% bio-based, making it a
non-hazardous, non-toxic coating
which lowers its environmental
impact. This high-performance coating is designed to provide durable,
trouble free performance in any climate and under any weather condi-
tion. It can be applied at low temperatures—Eco- Line 3690’s freezing
point is - 18°C.
HENKEL LAUNCHES ADHESIVE
FOR MEDICAL DEVICE ASSEMBLY
For medical bonding, potting and sealing applications, Henkel Corporation
has introduced a rapid curing, highly
flexible visible light cure adhesive formulation, Loctite 3974. Curing tack-free in seconds, this new adhesive permanently bonds materials with differing coefficients of thermal expansion
(CTE) and accommodates substrate
expansion and contraction.
Loctite 3974 Light Cure Adhesive is
a low modulus, single-component
acrylic adhesive that cures rapidly on
exposure to UV or visible light. This
adhesive can be used on glass, thermoplastic and metal assemblies that must
withstand extreme thermal cycling and
environmental exposure. Loctite 3974
Light Cure Adhesive has a shore hardness of A70 and an elongation of 100%,
making it ideally suited for highly flexible components.
Loctite 3974 Light Cure Adhesive is
ISO-10993 biologically tested, making
it suitable for the assembly of dispos-
