architecture and interior design on
March 27 at Gotham Hall in New York.
More than 400 guests were on hand to help
Benjamin Moore celebrate its 125th anniversary
at the annual Hue awards ceremony on March 27
at Gotham Hall in New York. The Huey’s, now in its third
year, honor exceptional use of color in architecture and
design. The Hue competition is conducted in search of professionals who qualify in categories that include
Residential Interiors, Residential Exteriors, Contract
Interiors and Contract Exteriors. Additionally, the Hue
judges vote for two discretionary honors, Social
Responsibility and a Lifetime Achievement Award.
Carl Minchew, director of color technology for Benjamin
Moore was the host for the evening. “Color of course has
been a defining trait of Benjamin Moore since our inception,” said Minchew. “We are proud to be here tonight to
share our passion for the palette and all it can achieve.”
The honorees for this year’s Hue awards included
Danielle Bokor, of Bokor Consulting, Inc. for Residential
Interiors; Christopher Mitchell, principal of Studios
Architecture for Contract Interiors; and Donald Lococo of
Donald Lococo Architects for Residential Exteriors. The
Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Ricardo and
Victor Legorreta of the Mexican-based architectural firm
Legoretta + Legoretta.
The Hue award for Social Responsibility was presented
by Benjamin Moore’s president and CEO Denis Abrams to
Make It Right, an initiative led by actor Brad Pitt to
rebuild the Lower 9th Ward in New Orleans. Abrams
announced that Benjamin Moore was adding to the $5,000
prize, matching it dollar for dollar with a corporate donation, plus providing all the paint necessary for the 150
houses that Make It Right will be building in New Orleans.
The Benjamin Moore Hue Awards gala at New York’s Gotham Hall
brought out approximately 400 architects and designers who
helped celebrate exceptional use of color in architecture and
design, plus the company’s 125th anniversary.
