Akzo Nobel chooses Rebuilding Together
Cleveland to help local homeowners
The North American Supply Chain team of Akzo Nobel
Decorative Paints U.S. (formely ICI Paints in North
America), recently donated $2,000 to Rebuilding
Together Cleveland.
The North American Supply Chain team recently won one
of the company’s Leadership Awards in the health and safety category, and as a result received a check for $2,000 to be
donated to a charity of its choice.
The Leadership Awards aim to reinforce the importance of
sustainability across the company. They recognize innovative and outstanding projects by former ICI sites around the
world in the areas of safety and health, environment, product stewardship, community involvement and employee
practices. The North American Supply Chain’s winning
HERO Campaign has eliminated over 1.6 miles of hose
across North America since 2006; it also achieved a massive
70% reduction in workforce injuries since 2004.
“Our team’s efforts to improve safety performance were recognized at the recent 2007 Leadership Awards. We chose to
donate our $2,000 prize to Rebuilding Together Cleveland
because its community program provides a sustainable impact
to the Greater Cleveland community,” said Steve Belke, vice
president of the North American Supply Chain. “We feel
strongly that this organization needs resources to preserve and
revitalize neighborhoods harmed by the foreclosure crisis. Like
we are, Rebuilding Together Cleveland is committed to improving people’s lives and beautifying their surroundings.”
“We will certainly put this donation to good use to help
low-income homeowners in Cleveland,” said Sheila Lee,
Rebuilding Together Cleveland executive director. CW

Notre Dame Club of Cleveland and Roetzel & Andress helped to
repaint and landscape the home of a Cleveland resident.
