Rohm and Haas launches Rhoplex CS-100

Rohm and Haas has launched a new innovative binder, Rhoplex CS-100 emulsion to the North American architectural coatings market. This new thermoplastic, water-resistant binder provides excellent resistance to water blushing, is VOC-compliant and exhibits a balance of early block resistance and low coalescent demand in masonry and cementitious sealers and stains, according to the company. Formulators can meet VOC standards of 100 g/L while maintaining performance in clear and lightly pigmented coatings.

NEW COLOUR INDEX FOR BASF ORANGE PIGMENT BASF has developed a new brilliant

orange pigment that has been listed in the Colour Index (C.I.) as Pigment Orange 82. BASF will market the orange pigment under the tradename Sicopal Orange L 2430 for coatings applications and Sicopal Orange K 2430 for plastics applications. The pigment has high hiding power, is resistant to chemicals and weathering, and is stable to heat. This technical profile makes Sicopal Orange suitable for a wide range of applications in the coatings and plastics industries. Uses range from alkaline silicate/silicone plaster finishes to color matching systems, and from powder and coil coating formulations to plastics such as polyolefins for film packaging and

polyamide for fiber and injection molding applications.

SARTOMER OFFERS HYDROPHOBIC URETHANE OLIGOMER Sartomer Company has introduced a hydrophobic urethane acrylate oligomer. CN9014 offers increased chemical resistance and enhanced dielectric properties, and is compatible with hydrophobic acrylate monomers. The oligomer offers low yellowing characteristics and will yield films that are flexible and have a low Tg, according to the company. Recommended applications include encapsulated circuit boards, coatings for highly corrosive environments, barrier coatings, sealants and adhesives.
