CYTEC OFFERS MODIFIED UV EPOXY ACRYLATE FOR METAL COATINGS Cytec Industries Inc. has launched the Ebecryl 3300 resin, a new modified UV epoxy acrylate for metal coatings. UV/EB curable coatings containing the Ebecryl 3300 resin demonstrate high reactivity, good adhesion to metal, balanced hardness and flexibility, and superior chemical and corrosion resistance, according to the company. Recommended applications for Ebecryl 33000 include clear and pigmented coatings for metal pipe and tubing, along with other general industrial metal coatings.

ARKEMA OFFERS ALPAMINE N41 Arkema has introduced Alpamine N41—a neutralizing amine for waterborne paints and coatings—in Europe and Asia Pacific. It brings numerous

benefits to waterborne paints and coatings formulations such as long-lasting neutralization of acrylic latexes, excellent pigment dispersion and low odor, according to the company. CW

BASF LAUNCHES

2-PROPYLHEPTYL ACRYLATE BASF is expanding its portfolio of specialty monomers and launching its new product 2-propylheptyl acrylate (2-PHA). This is a new raw material and building block for functional polymers. 2-PHA belongs to the group of alkyl acrylates and has the advantage of achieving improved results for pressure sensitive adhesives, including adhesion and tack. This is due to the longer alkyl chain compared with other monomers. In addition, with 2- PHA the glass temperature of the homopolymer is 10°C lower than with 2-ethylhexyl acrylate, an acrylate commonly used to manufacture adhesives. 2-PHA is based on the precursor 2-propylheptanol (2-PH).

MULTIFUNCTIONAL ADDITIVES FOR AQUEOUS COATINGS BYK has launched BYK-3520 and BYK-3521, new multifunctional additives that combine good flow and defoaming properties, helping to eliminate surface defects. BYK-3520 and BYK-3521 both offer substrate wetting even on demanding substrates such as wood. Both additives are broadly compatible in many coating systems.
