COMPANY DESCRIPTION:

LANXESS Corporation’s Material Protection Products (MPP) business unit offers an extensive portfolio of biocides and preservatives for in-can and dry-film applications. With the increasing focus on formaldehyde-free, VOC-free or low-VOC paint and coatings systems, LANXESS has developed products that help manufacturers meet consumer demand for more environmentally friendly coatings. The MPP business has increased the number of formaldehyde-free, VOC-free and low-VOC biocides that effectively inhibit the growth of microorganisms in paints, coatings and related materials. We are focused on being a solutions provider, including increased regulatory resources to meet the demands of REACH and the BPD (Biocidal Products Directive) in the European Union, and demand for “greener” chemistries in the United States.

MARKETS SERVED:

LANXESS has around 50 sites in 21 countries. We serve a global marketplace and numerous industries. MPP’s products are used in many applications – paints and coatings, adhesives and sealants, wood preservatives and stains, construction compounds and building materials, pulp and paper, elastomers and plastics, and many non-industrial applications. Other business units offer microgranulated organic and inorganic pigment preparations that are self-dispersing and solvent-free, iron oxides and chrome oxide green pigments.

TECHNOLOGIES:

Globally, MPP has increased the portfolio of combination products, which offer advantages to stand-alone actives. In the United States, MPP now has registrations to sell BIT, Bronopol, IPBC, and TBZ + OIT-based products, in addition to the existing portfolio. Our various products provide in-can preservation; dry-film mold protection; protection from fungi, wood destroying beetles and termites; and surface protection. Our experts choose from a wide range of biocides, preservatives and corrosion inhibitors to develop the best protection system to meet your special needs.

TECHNICAL SERVICES:

The MPP business has a Technology Center in Pittsburgh, PA with analytical and microbiological capabilities. We offer a wide range of in-house and ASTM procedures to identify products that will meet your needs. We also understand the importance of meeting regulatory requirements. Our business is compliant with US EPA and FDA, EU REACH and BPD, Canada PMRA and WHMIS, and many other countries’ regulatory requirements.
