The four-minute video,
posted at www.ppgideascapes.
com, describes how metal panels with factory-applied Duranar
GR or Coraflon GR clear coats provide
a graffiti-resistant barrier protecting the
pigmented color layer of the panel, then
demonstrates how Duraprep Prep 400
graffiti remover restores such panels to
their original luster.
When field-applied to Duranar GR
or Coraflon GR coatings, Duraprep
Prep 400 graffiti remover can eradicate
spray paint, pen and marker ink, lipstick, scuff marks, tape residue, bugs,
tar and other substances that mar the
appearance of commercial buildings,
according to the company.
PPG developed Duranar GR and
Coraflon GR clear coats to help U.S.
building owners combat vandalism by
graffiti, a problem that costs an estimated
$25 billion per year. They are made with
the same resin technologies as standard
Duranar and Coraflon coatings, and they
offer the same performance warranties.
Duranar GR coatings are available in
low and medium glosses; Coraflon GR
coatings are for high-gloss applications.

PPG to Acquire High-heat-Resistant Coatings Supplier
PPG Industries has reached a definitive agreement to acquire substantially
all of the assets of Hi-Temp Coatings
Technology Co., Inc., a privately-owned
supplier of high-temperature-resistant and
insulative coatings, based in Boxborough,
Massachusetts. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter, subject to
customary closing conditions. Financial
terms were not disclosed.
Hi-Temp is a global supplier of coatings that withstand extreme temperatures
to protect both carbon steel and stainless
steel substrates. The company’s coatings
are used widely in refineries, petrochemical plants, pulp and paper mills, and power plants. Hi-Temp’s products, including
HI-TEMP 1027, the industry-leading
corrosion under insulation (CUI) coating, may also be applied while equipment
is hot and in operation, reducing facility
downtime during maintenance.
“PPG looks forward to integrat-
ing Hi-Temp coatings into our product
offering,” said Tim Knavish, PPG vice
president, protective and marine coat-
ings. “Hi-Temp’s unique technologies
bring multiple growth opportunities
to PPG, particularly in the petrochemi-
cal segment. Combining their excellent
corrosion-under-insulation coatings
portfolio with PPG’s legacy portfolio
enables us to provide additional high-
quality options to meet more of our
customers’ coatings needs.”
PPG is a world leader in protective
and marine coatings, with products pro-
tecting customers’ energy, infrastructure
and marine industry assets in some of the
world’s most demanding conditions and
environments. Featured lines include the
AMERCOAT, PITT-CHAR and SIGMA
COATINGS brands.
PPG donates $6,000 to
Tickets for Kids Charities
The PPG Industries Foundation has do-
nated $6,000 to TICKETS FOR KIDS
Charities (TFK), a Pittsburgh-based non-
profit organization that distributes tickets
to arts, cultural, educational, family en-
tertainment and sporting events through
social-service agencies nationwide to at-
risk children and low-income families.
The grant will help increase TFK offer-
ings in West Coast communities where
PPG’s aerospace business has operations.
“PPG’s donation illustrates its dedi-
cation to supporting educational expe-
riences for children in its communities,
and it enables us to increase support for
children in western U.S. markets,” said
Rosemary Mendel, executive director,
Tickets for Kids Charities. “TFK is dedi-
cated to enriching the lives of children by
giving them access they may not other-
wise have to events and activities that can
provide them with inspiration and ideas.”
TFK currently administers com-
munity outreach and ticket exchange
programs for sports teams, Cirque du
Soleil, Ringling Bros. and Barnum &
Bailey Circus and hundreds of other
cultural and entertainment entities
across the country. The organization
distributes tickets through more than
2,800 social-service agency partners na-
tionwide to thousands of children and
their families each year. Since its incep-
tion in 1994, TFK has served more than
1.6 million individuals.
“As a company dedicated to innova-
tion, PPG strongly supports programs
that help enrich children’s lives by offer-
ing them unique experiences that stimu-
late creative thought and encourage
critical thinking,” said Sue Sloan, execu-
tive director, PPG Industries Foundation.
“PPG is pleased to help Tickets for Kids
Charities include children from our aero-
space-facility communities in a variety of
events that expose them to new activities,
accomplishments, culture and ideas.”
The PPG Industries Foundation demonstrates the values of PPG Industries by
enhancing the quality of life in communities where the company has a presence.
