Beginning of a beautiful friendship. Cosmetics retailer Sephora has implemented RedPrairie’s WMS in its new Salt Lake City distribution center. The warehouse management system will oversee Sephora’s multichannel distribution operations, including direct shipments to stores.

60+ and counting. The Miami Herald Media Co. has renewed its contract for dedicated contract carriage transportation services with Ryder System. Ryder manages the delivery of the Miami Herald and El Nuevo Herald from its client’s printing plant in Miami to 18 distribution centers throughout South Florida. The new three-year agreement extends an ongoing relationship between Ryder and the Miami Herald Media Co. that began in 1945.

Coke is IT. Coca-Cola Enterprises has deployed several applications from JDA Software’s Space & Category Management solution suite. The applications include JDA Space Planning, JDA Space Automation, JDA CategoryAdvisor, and JDA Intactix Knowledge Base. The software is designed to provide a platform for optimized planning.

Traffic watch. The McLane Co., one of the world’s largest food-service distributors and grocery wholesalers, will implement the Retalix Traffic Management solution at 19 grocery DCs across the country. The inbound freight management system will be deployed with an integrated Retalix Web Tendering module that gives users online access to McLane’s community of carriers to obtain the best freight rates and services.

Sealing the deal. DHL Express has signed a three-year contract extension with Trelleborg Sealing Solutions. Trelleborg is one of Europe’s leading suppliers of precision sealing products to the industrial, automotive, and aerospace markets. DHL Express has worked with Trelleborg for the past six years, mainly by providing its client with time- and day-definite trucking service.

Cool combo. Glacier Computer and WAV Inc. have entered into a strategic alliance in which WAV will offer its clients Glacier’s Everest and Ridgeline series of industrial computers. Chicago-based WAV is a value-added distributor of mobile computing and data-collection systems.
