Safety First in 2009
In today’s tough economic climate, we’re all looking for ways to increase
productivity and decrease costs. Beefing up facility safety efforts is an
often-overlooked way to do both.
There’s a safety hazard lurking in most warehouses today. It’s common
practice to disconnect the forklift battery from the charger before the
charging cycle is complete. Everybody does it – and it’s a disaster just
waiting to happen. At best, improper disconnection can cause premature
wear and tear on the connectors, which can lead to costly repairs. At
worst, it can cause arcing, explosion or fire – with potential injuries to
warehouse personnel and catastrophic damage to your facility.
That’s why we’ve introduced the D3 Disconnect Detection Device.
It senses any attempt to improperly disconnect the cables during the
charging cycle and automatically cuts off the current between the battery
and the charger. Installing the D3 on all your battery chargers will extend
the life of your cabling systems and avoid costly repairs and other
potentially hazardous consequences. The D3 is a simple, low-cost way
to ensure the safety or your people and your property and improve your
bottom line.
All of us at Applied Energy Solutions wish you a safe and prosperous 2009.
