Temperature monitoring: Spireon Inc., a
provider of mobile resource management and
business intelligence solutions, has introduced
FleetLocate temperature monitoring, the company’s first refrigerated trailer telematics solution for customers that require extra precautions to safeguard their perishable goods or
products during the climate-controlled transportation and shipping process.
Spireon’s FleetLocate temperature monitoring solution enables customers to achieve regulatory compliance for specifications outlined in
the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Food
Safety Modernization Act, which includes new
rules covering food transportation and distribution. Regulations include logging requirements
for vehicles carrying perishable food and the
temperatures that must be maintained.
The new FleetLocate temperature monitoring
solution is delivered at a low cost for customers, while still providing advanced features,
including remote real-time temperature monitoring that doesn’t require additional action
from drivers to keep track of the temperature.
Required temperature history documentation and reporting are easily produced in the
event of an audit, with electronic cloud-based
records accessible at all times. In addition, the
FleetLocate temperature monitoring solution
includes reliable pinpoint location of any refrigerated trailer when it is unhitched from power
or detained. (Spireon, www.spireon.com)
Trucking module update: Aljex Software has
implemented Auto-Post for its trucking module. This new improvement enables dispatchers
and asset managers to post available or soon-to-be-available equipment to load boards with
just one mouse click.
Now, by selecting the “post truck to load
boards” option, the destination and specs
of that equipment are automatically sent to
Truckstop.com. Trucking managers spend no
time keying information into load board forms.
Load information entered once in Aljex populates those forms automatically through an
application program interface.
Aljex offers intuitive cloud-based transportation management systems for brokers and carriers. At the same time, the company’s developers are always working on major upgrades
as well as tweaks to existing features. All are
made available on Aljex’s Web-based platform
as soon as they have been tested and proven
reliable. Just such an improvement, Auto-Post
is now available for all users of the Aljex trucking module without extra charge. Aljex trucking software is available for small and mid-sized
fleets. (Aljex, www.aljex.com)
Handheld bar-code terminals: Denso ADC, the Americas
sales arm of Denso Wave Inc., has introduced its new BHT-1500
Series handheld bar-code terminals. The compact, lightweight
devices weigh only four and a half ounces, yet offer high-per-formance scanning and a drop-resistant design, backed by a
three-year warranty.
The terminals’ full suite of preinstalled software makes them
ready for instant out-of-the-box data collection. A contoured
handle and ergonomic keyboard allow convenient one-hand
operation, reducing fatigue and increasing efficiency. A large
two-inch color screen facilitates clear viewing of data, cutting
down on operator errors.
Communications capabilities include USB, for direct connection to a PC, and IrDA, for wireless cloning of devices. Optional
device cradles allow communication via Ethernet, USB, or RS-232C. (Denso ADC,

Sensor camera: Numina Group has announced the release of IFM’s 3-D Smart
Sensor Camera incorporated into Numina’s latest release of its vision pack and
audit system, V-PAS. V-PAS can be purchased as a standalone carton content
and case picking inspection system or as a component within Numina’s real-time
distribution system, RDS, a modular and scalable top tier warehouse execution
and control system (WES-WCS). The 3-D camera inspection is designed to provide
automated conveyor systems with the ability to in-motion examine the internal
content of a carton prior to the pack and seal process. The 3-D smart sensor
imaging technology adds carton depth perception to the V-PAS system. (Numina
