DuPont Names Mark Vergnano CEO
of New Performance Chemicals Company
DuPont has appointed executive vice president Mark P. Vergnano as CEO of the
new, independent $7 billion Performance
Chemicals company after its separation
from DuPont, which is expected to occur
in second quarter 2015. BC Chong and
Thierry F.J. Vanlancker will continue to respectively lead the Titanium Technologies
and Chemicals and Fluoroproducts businesses within Performance Chemicals.
Vergnano is currently executive vice
president of DuPont
and his responsibilities include oversight
of the Performance
Chemicals segment
since 2009. With 33
years’ experience at
DuPont, Vergnano has
held a diverse range
of business, manufacturing and technical
leadership positions
around the world –
including leading several global businesses.
He is a member of the
board of directors of
Johnson Controls, Inc.
and the U.S. National
Safety Council.
As president
of the Titanium
Technologies business, Chong possess-es deep knowledge
of the growing Asia
Pacific marketplace
with most of his
25 years at DuPont
based in that region. Chong has been assigned to a variety of business, sales and operations
leadership positions before leading the
Titanium Technologies business for the
last three years.
Vanlancker has served DuPont for
26 years in a wide range of business and
sales leadership assignments since join-
ing the company in 1988 in Belgium. In
leading the Chemicals & Fluoroproducts
business, Vanlancker brings more than a
decade of experience in managing fluoro-
based businesses as well as strong global
marketplace insights. In October, DuPont
announced its intention to separate its
Performance Chemicals segment through
a tax-free spin-off to shareholders, result-
ing in two standalone companies.
Paul Mueller Company
Announces Resignation of
CFO
Paul Mueller Company recently announced that Marcelino Rodriguez, chief
financial officer, will be leaving the company effective February 20, 2014 to become the controller and chief accounting
officer of KMG Chemicals. The company
has initiated a search for his replacement.
Supervisory Board Changes
at AkzoNobel
The Supervisory Board of Akzo Nobel
N.V. announced changes to its membership that will be proposed for
adoption by the company’s Annual
General Meeting of Shareholders on
April 29th, 2014.
Current chairman Karel Vuursteen
will retire from the Supervisory Board
having completed three terms of office since joining the Board in 2002.
He became chairman in 2009. Antony
Burgmans will be put forward for re-appointment after reaching the end
of his second term at this year’s AGM.
Following such re-appointment the
Supervisory Board intends to elect
Burgmans as chairman to succeed
Vuursteen. Louis Hughes will also reach
the end of his second term this year and
will be nominated for re-appointment.
Peter Ellwood will step down at the
AGM after six years on the Board. In his
place the Supervisory Board is putting
forward Byron Grote for appointment.
Grote brings with him extensive experience of complex multinational environments as well as deep financial expertise,
having been a member of the Board of
BP plc from 2000 to 2013, during which
time he headed the petrochemicals business before becoming CFO. He currently holds the role of non-executive
director at Unilever, chairing the Audit
Committee, and is also a non-executive director at Anglo-American plc.
Following the proposed changes, the
Supervisory Board will have eight members instead of the current nine.
Chromaflo Makes Personnel
Changes
Chromaflo Technologies, one of the
leading independent global suppliers
of colorant systems, chemical and pigment dispersions has appointed Timothy
Grabnic to provide global analytical support as an analytical chemist. Grabnic is
based out of the Ashtabula, Ohio headquarters facility and reports to Jeremy
Powers, analytical manager.
In this role, he works cross-depart-mentally in areas of manufacturing, quality assurance, color science, sales, product
development and technical service to develop innovative solutions for customers.
Most recently, he was employed in the
analytical and in-process lab for a privately held manufacturer of hand hygiene
and skin care products.
Chromaflo Technologies also recently
appointed Wayne Pedlar to lead manufacturing for its Ashtabula location. Pedlar
will be responsible for the management
of production activities in the safest
means possible and the implementation
of process improvements which result
in customer satisfaction. He will report
to Mark Skouby, global vice president of
Manufacturing.
Most recently, Pedlar was a general
manager for a manufacturer of surfacing
materials, primarily in the architectural
and institutional markets.
