Arizonal Polymer
Flooring Launches
StatRez Static Control
Coatings
Arizona Polymer Flooring (APF), a manufacturer of high-performance flooring
products and concrete coating systems,
has launched StatRez Static Control
Flooring Systems, which are designed to
protect areas requiring static dissipative
or conductive flooring.
The static control properties of
StatRez prevent electrostatic damage to
products and equipment, limit the ability of personnel to build up a charge and
quickly remove a charge from a person
or equipment.
“This line of ESD coatings is ex-
tremely durable, versatile and relative-
ly easy to apply,” said APF president
Daniel Owen. “It further positions APF
as the go-to manufacturer for a wide
range of dependable and high-quality
flooring systems.”
StatRez is commonly used in mili-
tary/aerospace/aircraft service areas,
electronics manufacturing and assem-
bly areas, solvent storage rooms, pack-
aging lines, processing areas, clean
rooms, pharmaceutical industries and
hazardous industries (dust or explo-
sion hazards). It is more durable than
ESD tile and is not dependent on rela-
tive humidity.
Three systems are available offering
a range of static dissipative and conduc-
tive protection:
• StatRez PC 350/350C System – a
versatile, two-coat 100% solids ep-
oxy system commonly used in elec-
tronics and packaging lines.
• StatRez PC 225/225C System – a
three-coat, UV-stable polyurethane
system with excellent chemical and
abrasion resistance. It’s commonly
used in aircraft hangars.
• StatRez PC 925/925C System – a
two-coat epoxy novaloc system designed for areas requiring extreme
chemical resistance or complete protection from acids. It’s commonly
used in solvent storage areas.
PPG Unveils POWERCRON
EPIC E-coats
PPG Industries’ industrial coatings business has introduced POWERCRON EPIC
electrocoats (e-coats), a line of next-generation, cationic-epoxy products that
will be used for the first time in North
America by MetoKote Corp., Lima,
Ohio, and a key PPG partner.
Powercron EPIC e-coats offer several
performance and environmental advantages over competing products because
they are formulated with metal-free catalyst technology developed and patented
by PPG.
Powercron EPIC e-coats cure at temperatures as low as 320 F, compared to
350-375 F for existing cationic-epoxy
e-coat products, which enables manufacturers to reduce energy costs and related carbon emissions. They also can
achieve more uniform film builds on
complex parts because of the coatings’
improved throwpower.
The metal-free catalyst technology
also enables Powercron EPIC e-coats to
be formulated without tin, bismuth and
other heavy-metal-based compounds. As
a result they will comply with emerging regulatory trends, such as new
REACH (Registration, Evaluation and
Authorization of Chemical Substances)
mandates in the European Union that
will restrict the use of certain tin-based
compounds beginning in January 2015.
John Shaffer, PPG product manager,
electrocoat, said, “Global reserves of
bismuth are uncertain, and other heavy-
metal compounds are increasingly subject
to restrictive environmental mandates.
Powercron EPIC e-coats will help manu-
facturers comply with evolving global
environmental standards, protect them
from cost volatility and enable them to
manufacture products more efficiently.”
Joe Tirado, MetoKote global direc-
tor, technology and quality, said his com-
pany is pleased to partner with PPG on
the launch of Powercron EPIC e-coats.
“We believe these e-coats represent a
new generation of coatings solutions that
will help global manufacturers maintain
compliance with global environmental
standards while providing them with the
excellent corrosion protection and finish
quality they have come to expect from
PPG products.”
PPG offers a comprehensive array
of electrocoat, pretreatment, liquid and
powder products for metal finishing to
manufacturers in numerous industries.
In addition to providing a broad range
of industrial coatings and a full spectrum
of color choices, PPG backs its products
with industry-leading technical expertise
delivered through an international cus-
tomer support network. With 50 years of
experience in e-coat, PPG offers solutions
to some of the industry’s toughest corro-
sion challenges.
Axalta Unveils Next
Generation Voltatex
Electrical Insulation
Products for Customers in
China
Axalta Coating Systems unveiled its latest generation of industrial electrical insulation products designed specifically
for the China market. These new and
innovative products are Axalta’s next
generation Voltron wire enamel, Voltatex
8500, and halogen-free flame retardant
impregnating resin Voltatex 4080 products. Developed with German technology, the products are designed specifically
to meet Chinese industry demands for
safer, smaller and more efficient electrical
components. The products were introduced at the Coil Winding, Insulations
& Electrical Manufacturing Exhibition
(CWIEME) Shanghai 2014.
According to an article in Plastic News,
China’s insulation material market is projected to grow more than nine percent annually through 2016. Axalta is positioned
to expand its industrial coatings offering
to support customer growth in the region.
Improved insulation materials allow for
new industrial technologies, from miniaturized electronic components to heavy-round and rectangular conductors for
large motors, generators or transformers,
with the flexibility, protection and performance needed to accommodate the end
user’s growing needs. In particular, the
sustainable benefits provided by new insulation materials are having a significant
impact by decreasing energy consumption
and reducing the environmental footprint
