Heubach has launched a new and innovative production line for complex inorganic colored pigments (CICPs) in Germany
that combines outstanding productivity
and flexibility. This new production line
enables the production of chrome rutile
yellows revealing premium high tinting
strength pigments. The special feature of
these pigments is that they not only show
extremely high tint strength but they exhibit a high level of chromaticity as well,
according to the company.
The first product introduced to the
market is the HEUCODUR Yellow 2550.
It combines multiple outstanding prop-
erties in terms of chemical, temperature
and weathering resistance with an ex-
tremely high tinting strength. It also has
a high level of chromaticity and is the
first choice in formulating durable colors.
HEUCOPHOS CMP is a new zinc-free
addition to Heubach’s well-established
anticorrosive pigment line. The company
is in the process of introducing it to the
market. To date the performance exhib-
ited by this product has been achieved
only by using zinc containing anticorro-
sive. The novel non-zinc-metal complex
represents a new generation in modern
environmental friendly technology with-
out compromising the performance of
demanding applications.
HEUCOPHOS CMP offers non-
hazardous metal complex based on
phosphate; effective anodic inhibition
in solvent and waterborne systems; easy
handling; cost-effectiveness and stability
in a broad range of resins. HEUCOPHOS
CMP provides cost-effective universal
applicability, which so far has not been
seen in non-zinc based anticorrosives, the
company reported.
VANADUR 2108 is a new green shade
Bismuth Vanadate that is the result of a
consequent development work based on
the well-established VANADUR product
range. VANADUR 2108 shows extraor-
dinarily high tinting strength and very
good hiding power combined with high
durability, chroma and dispersibility.
The high tinting strength opens a new
economical dimension for end-users in
the formulation of decorative, industrial,
powder, coil and automotive coatings.
Based on a zinc-free technology it can
significantly contribute to ecological-eco-
nomic balance of paints.

solutions for lead chromate replacement.
Heubach has developed six new and highly cost-effective products allowing the
direct lead chrome replacement for the
most important shades. The new HEUCO
FIT LR products combine superior hiding power even in full shade formulations
and excellent chroma development.
Ross Offers Ultra-high
Shear Homogenization and
Particle Disintegration
The Ross MegaShear Ultra-High Shear
Mixer is designed for homogenizing dispersions and disintegrating large solid
particles or droplets suspended in liquid.
A unique inline rotor/stator design, the
MegaShear’s mixing head (U.S. Patent
No. 6,241,472) turns at tip speeds well
over 11,000 ft/min and generates extremely complex flow patterns without
sacrificing throughput. This subjects the
product to intense mechanical and hydraulic shear, rapidly resulting in a very
fine particle size distribution.
In a typical process set-up, raw materials are combined in an agitated vessel
and the resulting slurry, paste or emulsion is introduced to the MegaShear,
which behaves like a centrifugal pumping device. Materials are fed by gravity
or pumped to the mixer. When an auxiliary pump is used, the MegaShear can
handle viscosities up to around 200,000
cP or higher.
For many applications, the
MegaShear offers a viable alternative
to expensive high pressure homogenizers. These include submicron emulsions
and dispersions, as well as formulations
that degrade upon exposure to excessive
shear. Advantages include lower equipment cost, significantly shorter cycle
time, no clogging, faster changeover and
easier maintenance.
Oxea Expands Range of
Bio-based Plasticizers
Oxea has expanded its broad product
portfolio of phthalate-free plasticizers
with its new bio-based products Oxblue
DOSX (dioctyl succinate) and Oxblue
ATBC (acetyl tributyl citrate). Combining
the advantages of conventional petrol-and bio-based products, Oxblue DOSX
and Oxblue ATBC address the demand
for high-quality, high-performing and affordable plasticizers. Suggested Oxblue
applications include adhesives and sealants, food cling wraps, flooring and soft
toys. Oxblue DOSX and Oxblue ATBC
are commercially available in both
Europe and North America.
TEGO Twin 4200 New
Univeral Wetting Additive
TEGO Twin 4200 is the new universal
substrate wetting additive for water-borne wood coatings, industrial coatings and printing inks, which can also
be used in solventborne and even UV
cured applications. In addition to outstanding wetting and anti-cratering
properties, TEGO Twin 4200 does not
stabilize foam, providing a robust, more
simplified processing during the paint
manufacturing, according to the company. Enhanced reduction of surface
tension and high compatibility lead to
