The company’s waterborne
production process utilizes a
waterborne technology system
to produce “Lean and Green
Automotive Coatings” that OEMs can
use to significantly reduce volatile organic compounds (VOCs), energy consumption and investment needed to support
traditional coating technology. The “Lean
and Green Automotive Coating” process
includes primer-less coatings and 3-wet
coatings that can achieve full layer performance without the need to flash and
bake between coats. The increased productivity results in a better bottom line
for customers while still producing an
unparalleled finish on vehicles.
New National Paint Alliance
Formed by Nine Regional
Manufacturers To Sell
Across North America
A new specification option out of the
paint industry is available through a stra-
tegic alliance forged among nine regional
coatings manufacturers: The National
Paint Alliance (NPA).
The NPA provides access to comprehensive coatings portfolios, each formulated to perform in varied regional
conditions; and extensive professional
field support ensures that each job, at
each location, has the best product specified to deliver the best outcome.
The nine manufacturers that form
this alliance are dominant players in
their respective regions and represent
a diverse geographic cross section:
Miller Paint in Portland, Oregon; Kelly-Moore Paint in San Carlos, California;
Dunn-Edwards Paints in Los Angeles,
California; Diamond Vogel Paint in
Orange City, Iowa; Farrell-Calhoun Paint
in Memphis, Tennessee; O’Leary Paint in
Lansing, Michigan; McCormick Paint in
Rockville, Maryland; SunColor Paints
in Orlando, Florida; Cloverdale Paint in
Surrey, British Columbia, Canada.
Economists recognize that local busi-
nesses are the engine that drives the
economy and job generation. According
to Jeff Child, executive director of the
newly minted NPA, this translates into
several tangible benefits for national ac-
count corporations working with the
NPA. “These regional manufacturers
have built their business on high quality,
price competitive products and the ability
to react to their customers needs in a very
nimble manner. Support of these manu-
facturers clearly illustrates the national
accounts’ commitment to the local com-
munities in which they do business.
“The National Paint Alliance under-
stands the marketplace dynamics and
the need for performance-proven re-
gional formulations along with local ex-
pertise and rapid response,” said Child.
“Meetings with a breadth of national ac-
count managers allowed us to determine
that national chains—from Target to Wal-
Mart, from Hilton Hotels to Marriott
International, and from Cushman &
Wakefield to Winn Companies – are lim-
ited in their ability to specify anything EMImills
