They are also fast-drying and
can be topcoated as primer seal-
ers in as little as 30 minutes,
“Adding these two primers to the
Delfleet Evolution brand makes our
product lineup even more flexible,”
said J.J. Wirth, PPG brand manager,
fleet segments. “These are multipurpose
high-quality primers with fast-drying
characteristics that will help speed cy-
cle times and productivity in shops of
all sizes. Our original F4921 gray has
proven itself quite well; by expanding
our selections with these low-VOC prim-
ers in black and white, we’re giving PPG
customers more choices to address their
requirements.”
As low-VOC (volatile organic com-
pound) epoxy primers, F4921WH and
F4921BK are compliant for all parts of
the U.S. and Canada.
Cabot Woodcare Launches
Cabot Gold
Cabot Woodcare is launching a new
luxurious finish, Cabot Gold. The new
product will be available at home improvement retailers beginning this spring.
Perfect for decks and outdoor furni-
ture, Cabot Gold mimics the appearance
of interior hardwood floors outdoors for
a luxurious look through two coats, the
company stated. The first coat penetrates,
while the second coat adds dimension as
it seals, to protect against UV sun dam-
age, extreme temperatures and rain and
moisture.
Designed to withstand time, Cabot
Gold is applied in three steps.
• Bring to Bare: Remove all existing
stain, paint or sealer. Then clean and
sand the bare wood so Cabot Gold
can penetrate properly and seal
beautifully.
• Apply Two Coats: Let the first coat
dry at least 24 hours before applying
the second coat. Let dry for three days
before returning furniture to a deck.
• Celebrate the Beauty: Applied properly, Cabot Gold will wear gracefully
without peeling.
Cabot Gold is available in four different stain colors and can be used on both
cedar and pine. Stain colors include Sun-Drenched Oak, Sunlit Walnut, Fireside
Cherry and Moonlight Mahogany. The
product is available at Home Centers and
Independent Paint and Hardware Stores
in spring 2016.

PPG Launches HOBA
PURAIR Internal Powder
Liner for Aluminium Aerosol
Cans
PPG Industries’ packaging coatings business featured HOBA PURAIR coating, an
innovative Bisphenol A non-intent (
BPA-NI, or with no BPA intentionally added)
powder liner for the internal protection
of aluminium aerosol cans, during the
Aerosol and Dispensing Forum in Paris.
The product from PPG’s brand HOBA
Purair contains no solvent. It helps can-makers meet environmental and sustainable technology goals such as reducing
volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions and providing high utilization and
recycling capability.
Powder coatings are just emerging into
limited use for monobloc aerosol packaging, according to Robyn McMillan, PPG
global segment manager for monobloc
aerosol and tube coatings.
“Powder coatings can play a key role
in aerosol packaging going forward by
satisfying regulatory and environmental
concerns, especially regarding the use of
solvents,” she said. “With the innovative
HOBA Purair internal powder liner, PPG
offers a high-performance sustainable
solution that helps maximize product
utilization while minimizing environ-
mental impact.”
McMillan added that the PPG liner,
HOBA Purair is made with select raw ma-
terials to meet regulations as well as can-
makers’ and brand owners’ requirements.
PPG Packaging Coatings developed the
HOBA Purair powder liner in collabora-
tion with PPG’s industrial coatings busi-
ness – an established leader in powder
coatings for automotive, transportation,
appliance, office furniture, building and
architectural applications. The product
offers good smoothness at low thickness-
es as well as excellent coating flexibility,
