Schaefer Case Picking system: The Schaefer
Case Picking system (SCP) is a fully automatic
case-picking solution that is designed to automatically select, palletize, and stretch-wrap stable, cube-optimized mixed-case pallets. The SCP
is suitable for any retail distribution process that
must deliver mixed full-case pallets directly to the
store. It is designed to work in the most demanding environments and is able to handle almost all
SKUs, including those for grocery, food service,
consumer electronics, and footwear, according
to the manufacturer, SSI Schaefer.
The SCP is a modular, scalable, and expandable system with a performance of 30,000 to
300,000 cases per day. Schaefer believes that the
SCP provides an economical solution for increasing performance, quality, and efficiency, while at
the same time reducing the cost per case.
The SCP provides coordinated handling and
processing. The manufacturer’s pallets coming
from receiving or the high-bay warehouse are
automatically depalletized in layers. Special layer
trays then feed those individual layers to the pick
buffer system. The pick buffer system temporarily stores goods vertically, which maximizes
the use of cubic space. The system can automatically pick one or multiple layers of pallets
using just one movement. Intelligent software ensures these pallets are compiled in a stable,
volume-optimized way for each store according to product groups.
The SCP’s hybrid packing station provides double-deep placement of encased pallet lifts
and the immediate local wrapping of pallets. While these movements are taking place, the

ShipSort and PackSort apps: Intelligrated has launched two new software packages for
shipping and packing sortation: ShipSort and PackSort. These applications are now offered as
part of the Intelligrated InControlWare warehouse control software suite. The ShipSort and
PackSort applications are designed to manage
high-speed tilt-tray and cross-belt sortation systems. The software combines advanced sortation
functions with comprehensive warehouse control,
eliminating the challenge of integrating applications from multiple equipment suppliers.
InControlWare ShipSort is designed for use in
distribution, e-commerce, postal, and parcel operations and provides comprehensive routing and
controls management for shipping sorter applications. Advanced ShipSort software features
include intelligent item and container routing, induction and chute management, multiple
chute selection strategies, and configurable exception processing.
InControlWare PackSort is designed for order fulfillment applications, including returns,
direct-to-consumer, and packing operations. It fully supports pre-allocated or supply-and-demand item allocations. PackSort is suitable for multipurpose distribution centers where the
sortation system is a crucial part of the distribution channel, says Intelligrated. Key software
capabilities include inbound and outbound queue management, wave creation and management, item allocation to orders, directed packout operations, and inventory and item
