T507K tablet computer: Glacier Computer has added the T507K, a 7-inch rugged
tablet, to its product line of vehicle and fixed-mount terminals, handhelds, and
wearable rugged computers. These tablets provide portable desktop computing
both inside and outside the four walls.
The T507K is designed for applications that need a rugged, portable tablet with
a smaller display. The 7-inch display provides a suitable compromise for customers
requiring more than a phone but less than a notebook.
The new tablet, which features a sunlight-readable touchscreen, comes standard
with Windows XP or Win 7. (Glacier Computer, www.glaciercomputer.com)

Compact lift truck battery compartment:
Toyota Material Handling, U.S.A., Inc. (TMHU)
has unveiled a compact 27-inch battery compartment option for Toyota’s 8-Series 4-wheel
AC electric lift trucks in 4,000- and 5,000-
pound load capacities. The option is designed
to support jobs with
narrow-aisle and tight
turning-radius requirements while maintaining peak capacities at
high lift heights. It is
suitable for a range of
indoor material handling needs, from food
and beverage to general warehousing and
distribution centers, says TMHU.
The short design, accommodating either a
36- or 48-volt battery housed in a 27-inch
compartment unit, enables the lift truck to
maneuver comfortably in narrow 12-foot
aisles. This compact battery compartment
option can save consumers on the initial battery and charger costs due to the smaller battery size used and the lower charger output
requirements. According to TMHU, the compact option does not compromise travel or lift
speeds. Instead, it offers the performance
benefits of an AC-powered system, including
extended battery shift life, reduced downtime
between charges, and a virtually mainte-nance-free system. (Toyota Material Handling,

Vigillo Carrier Select software: Vigillo
Carrier Select software allows shippers,
freight brokers, and insurance providers to
use real-time data to analyze motor carrier
performance and make more informed choices. Carrier Select is the first product in Vigillo’s
Shipper/Broker Suite.
The Carrier Select application is pre-popu-lated with information on more than 1. 2 million motor carriers in the Federal Motor
Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)
Census database. A key feature of the software is its real-time updates to information
on a carrier’s insurance status, operating
authority, and safety performance.
Carrier Select provides tools to set selection
criteria through rules, filters, and tags, as well
as geo-location features. Users can create a
“My Carrier” list and control the parameters
they use to monitor and evaluate motor carrier partners. Among the analysis capabilities
are carrier type, location, and CSA scores.
With Carrier Select, brokers, insurers, and
shippers decide what data they feel is important to monitor and define. They then receive
reports if that data falls outside an acceptable
range. (Vigillo LLC, www.vigillo.com)
