SPOTLIGHT ON ….
AUTOMATED STORAGE EQUIPMENT
Inventory staging buffer: Dematic
has introduced its Multishuttle Flex, an
automated inventory staging buffer that’s
designed to accommodate cartons and
totes. The Multishuttle Flex incorporates
a flexible load handling device, enabling
high-performance storage and retrieval
of loads of variable sizes and formats, without the use of trays.
The load handling device “flexes” to adjust to the dimensions
of the load to be handled and accommodates cartons and totes
of varying lengths and widths. Configurations are tailored to fit
existing building layouts while optimizing density and minimizing
floor-space requirements.
For applications that need to accommodate a variety of load
sizes in a compact, high-density, controlled-access environment,
the Multishuttle Flex is the ideal solution, the company says. It
can be utilized in multiple market sectors, including retail and
industrial distribution. (Dematic, www.dematic.com)
Double-wide storage system: Twinlode Corp. now offers
its Gen2 double-wide storage rack system, which exceeds new
seismic regulations globally while providing significant cost savings—thanks to its closed structural tube system that significantly
lessens slab uplift design requirements in all
facilities. The Twinlode Gen2 also provides
flexibility for expansion, moving, and recon-figuration at much lower costs than would be
incurred with conventional racking systems,
the company says.
Twinlode’s dual pallet system allows warehouse personnel to load and unload two pallets at a time, increasing productivity by up to
50 percent, while decreasing wear and tear on
material handling equipment. Storage density can be increased
by up to 35 percent over competing four-high designs, while
wider pallet bays decrease product and rack damage when loading and unloading, the company says. (Twinlode Corp., www.
