Insulated single-slide door: The Turbo-Slide single-slide freezer door from Rytec
High Performance Doors is designed to deliver the speed, energy-loss protection,
and durability that high-volume freezer environments demand.
The Rytec Turbo-Slide single-slide door, which opens at a speed of more than
60 inches per second, features closed-cell EVA foam panels that produce R-values
ranging from R- 17 (standard) up to R- 40. The advanced thermal features of the
Turbo-Slide freezer door include Flex-Panel proprietary technology for reduced
downtime. This design enables the door to withstand accidental impact with easy
realignment. A thermoplastic outer shell ensures superior impact resistance and
durability, minimizing downtime and energy loss from panel damage.
The Armor Lock polyurethane elastomer perimeter edge seal keeps cold air
in the freezer room by providing an airtight, watertight seal along all edges. A
heated gasket system prevents icing around the opening. Along the floor is a
multilayered PVC-coated polyester fabric bottom sweep.
The Turbo-Slide door panels are 50 percent lighter than conventional sliding door
panels, reducing stress on the controller and other operating parts. The panel rides
along a heavy-duty galvanized steel track assembly. (Rytec, www.rytecdoors.com)
Freight exchange system: Skyway Marketing LLC has launched the Minority
Carrier Exchange, allowing shippers with diversity requirements to exchange
freight information with certified minority-owned trucking companies.
The new exchange is a platform that allows shipper members to submit an
RFP for either freight that needs truck capacity in the spot market or an RFP
bidpak for freight needing trucks in the future. Carrier members can view, bid on,
decline, or accept the shipments. (Skyway Marketing LLC, www.minoritycarrier

Wireless ring scanner: Honeywell has released
its new high-performance 8670 Wireless Ring
Scanner with Bluetooth technology, a compact,
lightweight scanner that fits comfortably on a
finger to allow workers to keep both hands
free when completing their tasks.
The scanner uses Bluetooth technology to
connect to a range of computing devices,
such as PCs, laptops, tablets, vehicle-mounted
computers, rugged mobile computers, and
smartphones.
The 8670 Wireless Ring Scanner delivers
high-speed decoding, motion tolerance, and
the ability to decode poor quality or damaged
bar codes. The 2-D imager can also be used as
a 1-D scanner and can capture small bar codes
in high detail. Because the scanner is separated
from the Bluetooth and battery module, the
8670 Wireless Ring Scanner is lightweight and
comfortable for workers. The soft elastomeric
finger and wrist straps provide comfort, are
impervious to moisture, and are easily cleaned.
The new ring scanner can be used across all
areas of a distribution center as well as in the
field in transportation, logistics, and retail environments. (Honeywell, www.honeywell.com)
Flow racks: Creform has introduced new
heavy-duty flow racks built with 42 mm pipe
and joint. Built to withstand the rigors of
an industrial environment and to hold heavy
parts, the heavy-duty flow rack is constructed
of Creform 42 mm pipe and joint, as well as
heavy-duty skatewheel conveyor, both durable, strong, and long lasting. The combination
provides extra capacity and rigidity to handle a
rugged industrial environment.
The fully assembled and ready-to-use racks
will be nested inside pallet racks, giving the
user high-density flow
racks at floor level while
retaining the upper levels of the pallet racks
for bulk storage.
The rack features
eight leveling feet and
Creform’s heavy-duty
skatewheel conveyor.
Low-friction skatewheel
conveyors allow for
shallow flow lane angles suitable for both plastic returnable totes and cardboard boxes. The
flow lanes are angled for repeatable container
flow and presentation. The gravity design
allows for first-in, first-out feed. The rack also
features lane dividers, which help ensure that
boxes or totes stay securely in their respective
lanes. (Creform, www.creform.com)
