loading and unloading.
No. 946 has double doors, front and
rear, each with inner and outer door gas-kets. The inner gasket seals against the
door plug, while the outer gasket seals
directly against the front of the oven.
A removable top-mounted heat chamber is also provided. Safety equipment
is onboard for handling flammable solvents, including explosion-venting door
hardware. Also featured on this Grieve
walk-in oven are digital programming
temperature controller, manual reset excess temperature controller with separate
contactors, recirculating blower airflow
safety switch and SCR power controller.
Ross Introduces Double
Planetary Mixer with
Discharge System
Designed for processing ultra-high viscosity applications up to 6 million centipoise
or higher, the Ross Double Planetary
Mixer with Discharge System is a low-maintenance, cost-effective alternative to
a double-arm kneader.
Unlike double-arm or sigma-blade
mixers (kneaders/extruders), the Double
Planetary Mixer has no packing glands or
bearings submerged in the product zone.
In addition, the agitators are raised and
lowered in/out of the mix by a hydraulic
lift. This allows easy access for cleaning
between batches. Mix cans are inter-
changeable for designation to a particular
formulation, greatly reducing the risk for
cross-contamination between batches.
Sizes range from 1/2-pint to 750 gal-
lons, with footprints considerably less
than that of horizontal double-arm
kneaders. This product is available as a
40-gallon Double Planetary Mixer with
Elevated Discharge System. After mix-
ing, the vessel is easily rolled from the
mixer and positioned under the platen
of the Discharge System. The vessel is
then raised and a receiving container is
placed underneath it. As the platen is low-
ered hydraulically, it pushes down on the
batch and an O-ring around the platen
wipes the vessel sidewalls clean. Product
is forced out through a valve on the bot-
tom of the vessel.
With the use of multiple mix cans, the
Double Planetary Mixer is very effective
in a semi-continuous process: while one
vessel is under the mixer, other vessels
in the loop are at the discharge station,
being cleaned and/or loaded with raw
materials for the next batch. This ar-
rangement maximizes both machine and
labor utilization.
Brookfield Donates PFT
to New KSU Bulk Solids
Innovation Center
Brookfield Engineering has donated a
PFT Powder Flow Tester to the new
Kansas State University Bulk Solids
Innovation Center. This new facility at
KSU will be used to study and develop
the understanding of bulk solids materials handling, in turn enhancing businesses
that use these materials or manufacture
the systems that convey, store and dispense them. The 13,000 sq. ft. center features five research laboratories as well as
lecture rooms for hands-on training, education and conferences. This university-level research center is the only one of its
kind in North America.
Brookfield’s PFT Powder Flow Tester
delivers affordable testing for powder
flow behavior in gravity discharge from
a bin. The PFT provides quick and easy
analysis of design parameters for industrial processing equipment. It’s ideal for
manufacturers who process powders daily and want to minimize or eliminate the
downtime and expense that occur when
hoppers fail to discharge. Customers
can use the PFT to perform QC checks
on incoming materials, quickly character-ize new formulations for flowability and
adjust composition to match the flow behavior of established products.
The donation includes the newest
version of Powder Flow Pro Software
and all accessories for handling powder
samples. Brookfield will also provide the
Small Volume Shear Cell (requiring only
43cc of powder) for formulators who
test expensive powders in limited quantities or materials which are difficult or
messy to handle.
Dymax Yellow Fluorescing
Maskant Designed to be
Visible on Dark Substrates
Dymax Corporation’s new SpeedMask
731 masking resin is yellow in
color, making it ideal for use on
darker colored substrates where
other maskants might be diffi-
cult to see. It also fluoresces bright yellow
under black light, making it easy to con-
firm proper placement prior to processing
and clean removal after processing. 731’s
high level of adhesion enables it to pro-
tect substrates during aggressive blasting
processes and chemical exposures. It has
excellent adhesion to nickel alloys, steel,
stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, co-
balt, and glass and can be used in a va-
riety of industries including aerospace,
power generation, orthopaedic joint re-
placement, and precision metal finishing.
SpeedMask 731 is jettable and holds
its shape after application. It cures tack
free on demand for quicker handling, is
easily removed through peeling or incineration, and leaves no residue upon
removal from non-porous surfaces. Its
500% elongation and very low shrinkage
properties makes it a resilient post-cure
maskant. SpeedMask 731 saves hours of
processing time when used as an alternative to labor-intensive manual taping or
lacquer maskants with long cure cycles.
Allnex Introduces New
Energy Curable Polyester
Acrylate for Wood
Applications
EBECRYL 854 is the latest addition to
Allnex’s portfolio of energy curable polyester acrylates. According to the company, the resin opens new possibilities to
wood coating systems through balanced
flexibility/hardness and good flow, even
when used in combination with a high
content of fillers. New EBECRYL 854 is
the first resin in Allnex’s product range of
polyester acrylates which offers an optimal balance of elasticity and hardness
properties. The good abrasion resistance
of EBECRYL 854 makes this resin ideal
for use as a sealer. A full coating system,
of which the sealer is based on EBECRYL
854, also proves to have a very good
coin and stain resistance. This makes
EBECRYL 854 particularly attractive for
use in furniture and parquet coatings.
The resin is also easy-to-handle and ideal
for roller applications. CW
