The Supervisory Board of the specialty chemicals company ALTANA has appointed Martin
Babilas to become the chief executive
officer. On January 1, 2016, he will
succeed Matthias L. Wolfgruber, who
will retire. Martin Babilas has been the
chief financial officer of ALTANA AG
since 2007. In November of last year,
he took over additional responsibility
of two of the company’s four divisions
from Wolfgruber. Babilas has worked for
ALTANA since 1998.
The Supervisory Board has appointed
Stefan Genten as ALTANA’s new chief
financial officer as of August 1, 2015.
Stefan Genten worked in various management capacities for the Grünenthal pharmaceutical group for 13 years, since 2005
as a member of the Corporate Executive
Board and as the CFO. He was also in
charge of operative functions, for example for the Latin American business, and
as Group chief operating officer (COO)
for the last five years.
On January 1, 2016, Martin
Babilas will take over responsibility for
Corporate Development/M&A, Human
Resources, Corporate Communications
and Internal Audit from Wolfgruber. On
that same date, Christoph Schlünken
will assume responsibility for Innovation
Management. Schlünken became a third
member of ALTANA’s Management
Board last November.
Nordson Appoints Scott
Springer Sales Director,
Americas, for Polymer
Processing Systems
Scott J. Springer has joined Nordson
Corporation as sales director, Americas,
for the company’s Polymer Processing
Systems (PPS) products.
Springer will be in charge of sales in
the Americas for underwater pelletizing
and drying systems, flat extrusion and
coating dies, melt filtration systems, gear
pumps, melt valves, screws and barrels
for extrusion and molding, and other
melt processing components. These are
sold under the Nordson BKG, Nordson
EDI, Nordson Kreyenborg, and Nordson
Xaloy brands. In addition, Mr. Springer
will be responsible for technical sup-
port and customer service teams in the
Americas for the Kreyenborg and Xaloy
product lines.
Prior to joining Nordson, Springer was
vice president of sales and marketing for
the materials handling equipment manufacturer Schwing Bioset Inc. Previously he
had held leadership positions in sales and
marketing with Thermo Fisher Scientific,
Banner Engineering Corp., and other producers of process components.
Mike Acker Named Dymax
Americas Sales Manager
Dymax Corporation has appointed Mike
Acker Americas Sales Manager. In his
new position, Acker will report to Stephen
LaCroce, global director of technology,
and will be responsible for achieving the
Americas annual revenue targets in adhesives and equipment, while continually
enhancing the commercial effectiveness
of the Americas sales organization.
Acker joined Dymax in 2009 as a territory sales manager and advanced to a
regional sales manager position in 2014.
He came to Dymax with a breadth of experience across multiple adhesive chemistries and an extensive industrial sales
background including several years as
an engineering sales representative with
Ellsworth Adhesive Systems.
David R. Lumley Elected to
Valspar Board of Directors
The Valspar Corporation’s board of di-
rectors has elected David R. Lumley to
serve as a director of the corporation. He
was appointed to serve on the board’s
Audit committee. Lumley recently retired
as president and chief executive officer of
Spectrum Brands, a global and diversified
consumer products company where he
served in executive leadership since 2006.
Lumley’s background includes more than
25 years of experience in the consumer
products industry, including executive
leadership roles at Newell Rubbermaid,
EAS, Brunswick Bicycles, Outboard
Marine Corporation, Wilson Sporting
Goods Co. and other companies. Lumley
currently serves as a director of Spectrum
Brands Holdings, Inc. and Husqvarna AB.
Sartomer Americas Names
Erbeck Senior Account
Manager
Sartomer Americas, a business unit of
Arkema Inc., has named John Erbeck
senior account manager. In his new role,
Erbeck will be responsible for developing
and implementing a strategic sales plan
for Sartomer and marketing Sartomer’s
industry-leading specialty chemicals to
formulators in New England, Michigan
and Canada. He will report directly to
Chris Petrangeli, Americas sales manager. Erbeck joins Sartomer with more
than 25 years of marketing, sales and
business development experience in
the coatings, plastics and graphics arts
markets. He began his career with Sun
Chemical Corporation, where he held
technical service and sales roles in the
general printing ink division. Erbeck
gained much of his experience from
holding management and business development roles for companies including MD-Both Industries (Chicago) and
Wolstenholme International (Chicago).
Most recently, he served as product
line manager, business development
and marketing manager for Emerald
Performance Materials.

or exceed sales goals while maintaining excellent customer relationships – a
perfect fit for Sartomer,” said Petrangeli.
