; Air apparent. The nation’s first multi-use industrial park
hydrogen fueling station has opened at the Sage Mill
Industrial Park in Graniteville, S.C. The facility, which will
supply hydrogen directly for industrial, commercial, and
government use, is providing hydrogen for 25 fuel cell-powered Toyota forklifts at Kimberly-Clark Corp.’s DC at
the complex. In addition to Kimberly-Clark, partners in
the fueling station project include Genco ATC (which
manages the Kimberly-Clark DC); Plug Power (which supplied the GenDrive fuel cells for the forklifts); Air Products
(which provided the fueling technology); and the Aiken-Edgefield Development Partnership.
; Jumping into the pool. Nestlé USA and Nestlé Waters
North America have signed a multiyear contract to ship
their products on pallets from CHEP. The Nestlé products
will move from the company’s bakeries, bottling plants,
and other points of origin to supermarkets, distributors,
and wholesale clubs across the United States on pooled
CHEP pallets.
; Bright move. Brightpoint North America has entered
into a logistics services agreement with Allied Wireless
Communications Corp. Brightpoint will perform a variety
of supply chain services for the telecommunications company, including the picking, kitting, programming, invoicing, and shipping of its wireless devices.
; Healthy choice. Pocket Nurse has selected HighJump
Software’s warehouse management system to manage its
growing distribution operations. The WMS will enable
the company, which provides medical supplies and equipment to healthcare educators, to streamline its kitting
and pack-out process, which will significantly reduce time
and labor costs.
; Revving up. Mazda has awarded Ceva Logistics a contract to manage the distribution of aftermarket vehicle
parts throughout the United Kingdom. The solution is
expected to enhance service to Mazda dealerships as well
as reduce the automaker’s carbon footprint by cutting
travel distances.
; Worthy of a toast. Southern Wine & Spirits of America,
the nation’s largest wine and spirits distributor, has selected Penske Truck Leasing as its primary provider of contract commercial truck fleet maintenance services. Penske
will maintain Southern Wine & Spirits’ fleet, which consists of nearly 2,000 heavy-duty tractors, trailers, and
medium-duty trucks.
