Rapid reader: LXE introduces the Tecton
rugged handheld computer, purpose built for
the warehouse and targeting supply chain
applications. The IP- 65 rated Tecton accelerates real-time data capture with a PXA 320
806 MHz processor running Windows Mobile
6. 5 or Windows CE 6.0.
Lightweight and well-balanced in the user’s
hand, the new handheld is designed to
enhance performance across a wide array of
supply chain tasks. The unit’s multi-range
scanning capabilities enable bar-code reads
from four inches to 40 feet, allowing operators to perform tasks ranging from receiving
to full pallet put-away with the same version
of the computer. The unit comes with LXE’s
ToughTalk technology for voice-driven
processes. For scan-intensive picking, an easy-grip removable handle with two-finger trigger
is available.
The device also features a scan vibration
signal that can be used to verify successful
scans in loud warehouses, and multiple built-in data-entry options. Keypads protect
against airborne and spilled chemical agents,
and electrical components are secured to circuit boards to better withstand drops and
shocks. An available cold-storage configuration includes programmable touch-screen
and scan window defrosters and a cold-toler-ant backup power source. (LXE,

Lightening the load: Lightning Pick
Technologies has released version 6. 1 of its
Lightning Pick software, an order fulfillment
execution program that manages and drives
the performance of multiple paperless picking
products. The new version promises easier
software installation and enhanced dashboard capabilities, presented in a sophisticated graphical user interface.
The new version’s adoption of the
Microsoft ClickOnce Deployment Model
allows users to conveniently publish
Windows-based applications to a server or
network file share with simplified installation.
ClickOnce is ideal for self-updating Windows-based applications that can be installed and
run with minimal user interaction. This
approach overcomes major issues inherent in
software deployment such as automatically
updating Lightning Pick without reinstalling
the entire application.
LP Dashboard gives users real-time productivity data on any Lightning Pick-managed
facility, area, zone, or employee through one
centralized visibility tool. (Lightning Pick
