Ross Expands Ribbon Blender Inventory
Charles Ross & Son Company announced
that more than 80 Ribbon Blenders, sized
for different working volumes and bulk
densities, are now available from stock.
Most standard and sanitary models can
ship within two weeks or less. Built-to-order custom units are also offered with
fast lead times like the 10-cu.ft. stainless
steel Ribbon Blender featuring a bottom
discharge extruder, lantern rings, spray
bar system with atomizing nozzles, load
cells and a NEMA 4X Ross SysCon
Control Panel.
Ribbon Blenders are commonly used
for rapid blending of dry powders, granules, pellets and other solid forms. These
machines also mix paste-like materials,
wet granulations and solid-liquid suspensions. Batch components are blended
within a U-shaped trough via a horizontal agitator consisting of inner and outer
helical ribbons. The ribbons are precisely
pitched to move materials in a well balanced axial and radial flow pattern.
Tightly controlled clearances between the
trough surfaces and agitator tips further
ensure fast and thorough mixing.
Ross Ribbon Blenders are driven by
an inverter-ready gearmotor. Compared
to belt- and chain-driven designs, which
suffer from losses in horsepower and efficiency through slippage, direct-drive
Ribbon Blenders are more reliable, delivering better performance and require less
maintenance, the company stated.
Microtron and EMImills
Develop Microtron Mill for
U.S. Market
Microtron USA, Inc. announced its association with EMImills – Engineered Mills, Inc.
formerly Eiger Machinery) in the development of the U.S. market for the Microtron
Bead Mill that has been designed for wet
milling and fine grinding of dispersions
requiring particle sizes in the nano range.
Microtron has the ability to utilize the
smallest grinding media, down to 0.03
( 30 microns) and has exceptional cooling
which is required for nano type dispersions,
according to the company.
The 7” touch screen conveniently displays all test parameters along with mea-
sured values for yield stress, viscosity and
temperature.
TC Series Water Baths were also recent-
ly given a sleek new design that includes
the addition of touch screen technology,
one-touch control with adjustable pre-set
temperatures as well as multiple language
capability. The Brookfield Thermosel
System is a high temperature system that
allows manufacturers to precisely control
samples up to 300°C.
An additional benefit is contamination
free milling that results from the lack of
component wear. Testing of dispersions
and finished products will show better
quality and faster throughput rates. All
product testing for North American customers will be at EMI’s test laboratory in
Grayslake, Illinois.
New Coatings Adhesion
Tester from SEMicro
The SEMicro Division of M.E. Taylor
Engineering Inc. launched a series of
new coatings adhesion testers. The first
model to be marketed is the P.A.T.T.i.
– K. The “K” is available in three ranges up to 4000 psi. Features include an
analog gauge, patented PATTI piston
(choice of ranges) rate valve, CO2 cartridges, supply pressure gauge, one button operation and self alignment.
Brookfield DV3T Touch
Screen Rheometer,
The new Brookfield DV3T Touch Screen
Rheometer provides customers with integrated temperature control right from
the screen. The new DV3T was engineered to allow the user to control the
temperature of Brookfield TC Series
Baths or the Brookfield Thermosel
System without a PC.
Brookfield recently launched the new
DV3T Touch Screen Rheometer delivering a new user experience according to
the company. This redesign enhances ease
of use and includes many new features.
EMD Chemicals Launches
Meoxal, a New Generation
of Effect Pigments
EMD Chemicals has added another family of effect pigments to its portfolio.
Meoxal effect pigments feature brilliant
color saturation and exceptional performance thanks to their innovative layer
technology and the use of aluminum
flakes as substrate, according to the company. Meoxal Wahiba Orange is the first
pigment under the new brand name.
Meoxal Wahiba Orange has a specially treated surface. Thanks to this special
CWT (Carbitol and Weather Treatment)
surface treatment, Meoxal Wahiba
Orange is highly suitable for high-performance applications – especially for automotive and plastic coatings as well as for
other demanding exterior applications.
Using the new pigment in waterborne
coating systems is particularly straightforward because no additional passiv-ation is needed. CW
