Doug Sharp named president and
CEO of Sartomer
Doug Sharp has been
appointed president
and CEO of Sartomer,
photocure resins business unit of Arkema.
He most recently
served as regional
group president of
Arkema’s Altuglas International PMMA
and methacrylates businesses in the Americas. Sharp began his career as an R&D engineer with Rohm and Haas in 1982. He
worked for the company in the United
Kingdom and later became the plant manager for the company’s manufacturing facility in Bristol, Penn. He joined Elf
Atochem in 1998 when the company
bought out its joint venture with Rohm
and Haas, assuming the role of manufacturing director for additives. He was promoted to regional group president with
Altuglas International in 2003 and has held
this post until his present appointment.

Micro Powders names Strauss
Kornblau VP-director of sales
and marketing
Micro Powders, Inc. has appointed Deena
Strauss Kornblau vice president - director
of sales and marketing. In this position,
Strauss Kornblau will oversee all matters
concerning sales for both the Industrial and
Personal Care Divisions across domestic
and international territories for Micro
Powders. Strauss Kornblau joined MPI in
1996 as a member of the marketing team.
She has held various positions in the company, most notably founding and managing the Personal Care Division. She will
also be maintaining her responsibilities as
director, Personal Care Division. Prior to
Micro Powders, she was the marketing
manager at Global Business Research and
account manager at American Healthware.
Specialty Polymers Inc. hires
new director of operations
Specialty Polymers Inc. has hired Kelly
Kane to be the company’s new director of
operations. Kane will be responsible for
overseeing the company’s production sites
in Woodburn and Chester, S.C. His responsibilities cover all facets of the company’s
operations, including product quality. Prior
to working for Specialty, Kane was vice
president of manufacturing at Munzing. He
has more than 18 years of experience in
manufacturing and operations. Kane
earned his MBA from Duquesne University,
and his degree in Chemical Engineering
from the University of Pittsburgh.
Michelman names managing
director of Asia Pacific
Michelman has hired
Steven Wong as managing director of Asia
Pacific. He will be responsible for managing Michelman’s
Asian strategy across
all of Michelman’s
industry segments in
accordance with the
company’s global strategy. In his newly
created position Wong will report directly
to Steven Shifman, president and CEO at
Michelman, and will work closely with
the company’s global executive leadership
team. He will be heavily involved with
Michelman’s global supply chain, finance
and commercial development teams with
a focus on the Asian region. Wong brings
11 years of experience with the Honey-well Corporation and most recently three
years with Tennant as the managing di-rector/general manager of Asia Pacific. In
his career, he has been involved in technical and commercial development, operations and general management. He also
has a broad academic background with an
MBA in marketing from the University of
Leicester, in the UK, an MSc in polymer
science and technology from Victoria University of Manchester, Institute of Science
& Technology, also in the UK, and various other academic accomplishments.

senior consultant. Liberal joins TZMI following 14 years in
the ceramic industry
with Torrecid Group,
bringing extensive experience in the mineral
sands industry, particularly in the zircon
sector. He has technical and business expertise in the areas of project evaluation,
marketing, strategic sourcing, processing,
research and exploration, as well as specific
experience and knowledge of zircon sand
both downstream and upstream.

names Broadhurst
general manager
Emerald Polymer Additives has named
William Broadhurst
general manager of its
polymer additives and
nitrile latex product
lines. In this role,
Broadhurst will lead
the two businesses
and will be responsible for sales, marketing and product line
management. He will work closely with
operations and research and development
to help the business achieve its growth and
profitability goals. Previously Broadhurst
served as president and CFO of Partners in
Plastics, a manufacturer of blow-molded
plastic products in Ohio. He also served in
a variety of business and operations leadership roles at The Reserve Group, The
Oak Rubber Company, Pacific Great Lakes
Company, DeKalb Corporation and Firestone Tire and Rubber Company.
