IReflex: Small Pigment – Large Effect
Functional effects which compliment each other in an ideal manner. In comparison to other metals,
aluminum exhibits the strongest heat reflection, known as IR-reflection. This property is the crucial basis of
IReflex – the new product by ECKART. The fine aluminum pigments contained in this product deploy their
full effects: They –
· radiate the heat from the walls back into the room
· reduce the loss of transmission heat through the wall to the outside
· minimize the infiltration effect
· allow residents to perceive the room as warmer
· increase the residents’ thermal comfort
· reduce heating and energy costs
Optical and functional effects are readily combined. Manufacturers of transparent interior wall paints
add IReflex as pigment powder or aqueous concentrate to their products. This produces a refracted white
color tone. The addition of organic pigment preparations then produces the desired color shade. The effect
of IReflex is still on full display.
A cooperative research venture with the Bauhaus University in Weimar/Germany confirms the potential to
save energy with the use of IReflex under defined conditions.
