DuPont Alesta Powder Coatings featured
in luxury apartment building in Poland
DuPont solutions will be featured in a
new, 54-floor luxury apartment building
in Poland designed by architect Daniel
Libeskind. Almost 87,000 square meters
of the new building’s façade will be covered by DuPont Alesta Powder Coatings,
as will elements of interior decoration.
“The Polish DuPont Powder Coatings
Team, supported by colleagues from Belgium, worked intensively to ensure DuPont
solutions were used in that prestigious project,” said Elzbieta Wojciechowska-Za-lewska, country business manager, DuPont
Coating Solutions, Poland.
The new building, located in the heart
of Warsaw, is named for the street on which
it is located, “Zlota” (meaning golden). The
unique shape of the skyscraper will become
a new symbol of the city and will add an
exciting dimension to the skyline of
Poland’s capital said the company. Each
apartment will be equipped with a home
management system integrating all controls
and functions in one touchscreen. The
building is planned for completion in 2012,
but Zlota 44 is already a winner of a European Property Award, given in association
with recognized world leader in business
news, CNBC.
“Libeskind’s designs attract attention
everywhere they are built. We are proud
that that the next world-class location will
be built with DuPont input,” said Monika

Libeskind was born in Poland, but
gained international fame thanks to his
designs of the Jewish Museum in Berlin
and the World Trade Center memorial
towers in New York City, N. Y.
ShawCor receives contract to
provide pipeline coatings for
the Ruby Gas Field
Development Project
ShawCor Ltd. announced that its
pipecoating division, Bredero Shaw, has
received contracts with a value in excess
of US$30 million from PEARLOIL (Se-
buku) Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pearl Energy, which is the
Southeast Asia operating arm of
Mubadala Oil & Gas, a business unit of
Mubadala Development Company, to
provide pipeline coatings and related
products and services for the Ruby Gas
Field Development Project. The Ruby
Field Development export pipeline will
connect the offshore gas field to a dedicated receiving terminal in North Bon-tang, East Kalimantan, Indonesia and a
tie-in pipeline will connect the receiving
terminal to Total’s onshore facilities at
Senipah in East Kalimantan. The contracts
will be executed at Bredero Shaw’s facilities in Kabil, Indonesia and Kuantan,
Malaysia. These facilities are technology-based, full service coating plants that were
built specifically to process large, complex
projects in the Asia Pacific region.
The export pipeline and related tie-in
pipeline contracts involve coating approximately 240 km of 14” diameter
pipe that will be protected with three
layer and asphalt enamel anticorrosion
coatings and concrete weight coating. In
addition Bredero Shaw has also received
a contract for anode procurement and
installation as well as custom coating.
The project will commence during the
second quarter of 2012.
Dunn-Edwards receives RED
Award for Best Industrial
Project
Dunn-Edwards has received a Real Estate
and Development (RED) Award from the
Arizona Commercial Real Estate (AZRE)
for Best Industrial Project for its new
336,000 square foot manufacturing facil-
ity. The 7th Annual RED Awards recog-
nize the most notable commercial real
estate projects of 2011 and the construc-
tion teams involved. AZRE held an open
call for nominations and a record 116
projects were submitted by architects,
contractors, developers and brokerage
firms in Arizona.
Custom designed to be the greenest
and most efficient in the coatings industry,
the plant was awarded LEED Gold certification; is the winner of NAIOP’s Best Industrial Redevelopment Project in 2010;
and an Award of Merit winner by Engineering News-Record in the Southwest.
Dunn-Edwards placed significant effort
on energy efficiency in its new industrial
warehouse by using recycled materials to
build its facility.
Upon completion, 31. 7 percent of the
supplies were recycled, equivalent to a
savings of $772,255. The operations design incorporates innovative technology
for the reuse of manufacturing by-products, including waste water and particulate matter.
By combining various distribution facilities toward a central location, Dunn-Edwards cut its overall cost by more than
40 percent. It utilized new marketed products implementing robotics and worked
with BIM.
PPG honors Ohio Auto Kolor
with Platinum Distributor of
the Year Award
PPG has named Ohio Auto Kolor of
Columbus, Ohio, its 2011 Platinum Dis-
tributor of the Year. The award was pre-
sented to Gary Bumgarner, Ohio Auto
Kolor president, at the annual PPG Plat-
inum Distributor Conference held February
23-25, in Orlando, Fla., at Loews Royal Pa-
