CIN launches a new
coating for the interior
of food storage
containers
CIN, Iberian leader in the paints and varnishes sector, has launched a new product
for coating the interiors of food storage
containers. Named C-Pox TL790 FG, it is
for use on interiors of potable water
tanks, wine vats and containers for juices
and edible oils.
CIN’s C-Pox TL790 is a new coating for the
interior of food storage containers.
C-Pox TL790 FG complies with the
new requirements of European regulation
number 10/2011 which establishes specific safety standards for materials and objects which may come into contact with
food products.
C-Pox TL790 FG is approved by
OTEC, meeting requirements for global
and specific migration of products in contact with food stuffs. It is also approved
by the Escola Superior de Biotecnologia of
the Univeridade Católica Portuguesa,
which carries out organoleptic tests on
drinking water and by the IVDP (Instituto
do Vinho do Douro e do Porto), which
carries out organoleptic tests on wines
and fortified wines such as port.
BASF launches new coating
materials for rotor blades
BASF Coatings has introduced two new
coating technolobies for the coating of rotor
blades. The new coating system, Relest
Wind Leading Edge, improves the economic
efficiency of wind turbines. It provides protection of the front and leading edge of the
rotor blade from erosion and due to its high
erosion resistance against rain, sand and hail
Relest Wind Leading Edge is particularly
useful for offshore turbines as it extends
their life span and increases the service in-
tervals. Moreover, the material offers major
advantages in the application process: flexible film thicknesses are possible during the
coating process, and the short drying time
ensures high production efficiency said the
company.
BASF’s answer to the enormous
stresses and strains rotor blades are exposed to is the intelligent repair system
Relest Wind RepKit. Wind and water, UV
radiation, erosion and bending loads place
highest demands on the rotor blade. At
this immense height and rotation speeds,
raindrops turn into real bullets when hitting the material. These stresses and
strains may cause severe damage during a
wind turbine’s life cycle that needs to be
repaired in order to safeguard the turbine’s economic efficiency. In addition to
all the materials and tools required for the
repair, the new Relest Wind RepKit also
includes extensive application training.
The kit is characterized by its simple and
fast handling. After being trained byBAS-Fspecialists, the employees of wind turbine operators will be able to implement
professional repairs. The new Relest Wind
RepKit is designed for stationary use both
on the ground and on the turbine.
Sherwin-Williams’ SherPlate
PW epoxy cures in 24 hours
Sherwin-Williams has launched SherPlate
PW Epoxy, a fast-curing, 100 percent
solids epoxy tank lining for potable water
applications that provides enhanced edge
retention, improving corrosion protection
on corners and sharp angles. The new
product can be applied in one or two coats
and has a 24 hour return to service time.
Competing products can take up to
seven days or longer to cure said the company while SherPlate PW becomes dry to
walk on in three to four hours at temperatures of 77˚ F allowing for quicker inspection times and can be placed into
immersion service in 24 hours.
SherPlate PW is recommended for use
on steel or concrete for potable water
pipes six inches and greater in diameter
and tanks greater than 25 gallons. It is
also acceptable for use with cathodic protection systems. It is available with Opti-Check OAP Technology to quickly
identify pinholes or verify film thickness
ensuring proper application.
SherPlate PW is available in a high
gloss white or blue finish. The epoxy coating also has very low VOC (less than 85
g/L; 0.71 lb/gal, mixed) and low odor.
SherPlate PW Epoxy also meets AWWA
D102 and AWWA C210 standards.
BASF taps into water
transmission industry
with Elastocoat AC
BASF has launched Elastocoat AC, a new
protective pipe coating product line for
the water transmission pipe industry.
The two-component, 1:1 by volume
polyurethane system can be used as an internal lining or as a corrosion resistant external coating for potable and non-potable
water transmission pipelines. Elastocoat
AC offers a protection solution for transmission pipe used in infrastructure improvement and new installation projects.
The latest in a family of products from
theBASFPolyurethane Solutions business
designed for pipeline protection, Elastocoat AC contains zero volatile organic
compunds (VOCs). As a 100 percent solid
elastomeric coating, Elastocoat AC is designed for the cathodic protection of steel
and ductile iron pipe and associated fittings. With excellent impact and abrasion
resistance and cathodic disbondment
properties, Elastocoat AC meets the
AWWA-C222 specification, a standard for
polyurethane coatings issued by the American Water Works Association.
RockSolid Floors Garage Coat
now available in tan
RockSolid Floors’ Polyurea Garage Coat
series has grown to include their new Tan
Garage Coat. The Tan Garage Coat has a
virtually unlimited pot-life, allowing installers as much time as they wish to finish their projects while preventing any
waste said the company. At the same time,
the company said the one-part composition of the Garage Coat series allows it to
keep polyurea’s usual four to eight hour
cure rate and 24 hour return to service
once it’s applied and that polyurea is 20
times more durable and 98 percent more
flexible than epoxy. It also has ultra low
VOCs to make it environmentally friendly.
The Tan Garage Coat package comes with
