Parker named president of Shamrock
Shamrock Technologies has named
Steven M. Parker president and chief
operating officer. William B.
Neuberg will
remain chairman and chief
executive officer. Parker, a
30-year veteran of the advanced materials
industries has held
key executive positions at the former
Allied-Signal Corp. (now Honeywell), the
Ausimont Division of Montedison SpA,
Saint-Gobain and, most recently, as division president and commercial director
for UK-based Oxford Instruments. With
his background in global business,
Parker served in an advisory role to the
Shamrock leadership team during much
of 2009.

ELIOKEM APPOINTS
BARTHELMES CEO
Patrice Barthelmes has been appointed
CEO of Eliokem. He previously served
as vice president and director for the
packaging and
building materials division of
Rohm and
Haas from
1999 until its
buyout by Dow
Chemical in 2009,
where he was appointed vice president
and group director for its adhesives and
functional polymers division. Bar-
thelmes started his career in 1983 as
R&D manager at Air Liquide. In 1989
he joined Sanofi Group as marketing
product manager and in 1994, Systems
Bio Industry where he held the positions
of marketing and sales director for the
specialty additives division and head of
flavors and fruit systems division.
PPG APPOINTS BENCKART GM,
AUTOMOTIVE REFINISH USCA
PPG Industries has appointed Gregory
Benckart general manager, automotive
refinish USCA, with responsibility for
PPG’s automotive refinish business in
North America. Benckart is currently
general manager, sales and marketing
North America, automotive refinish.
He will continue to work at the PPG
Automotive Refinish headquarters in
Strongsville and to report to John R.
Outcalt. Benckart has worked for PPG
for more than 29 years in sales and
marketing positions of increasing
responsibility, serving in roles such as
manager of distribution for fiber glass
reinforcements, director of marketing
for OEM automotive glass, director of
sales for chlor-alkali and general manager for fiber glass.
SCHULLER NAMED GM,
NORTH AMERICA FOR DOW
COATING MATERIALS
Joan A. Schuller has been named
general manager for the North
American region of Dow Coating
Materials, the global architectural
and industrial coatings business of
The Dow Chemical Company. In her
role, Schuller is responsible for set-
ting the business strategy and lead-
ing the North American Leadership
Team. A 17-year veteran of the com-
pany, Schuller most recently served
as regional general manager, packag-
ing and building materials (PBM),
Asia Pacific, where, in addition to her
general management duties, she was
responsible for setting strategy and
optimizing the division’s regional
business model. Her career with the
company began when she joined the
former Rohm and Haas Company
(acquired by Dow in 2009) in 1993 as
a project engineer.
ASTM ELECTS REPRESENTATIVE
TO BOARD OF DIRECTIONS
The American Society for Testing
Materials (ASTM) has elected Ken
Yarosh, global service line manager
for the specialty chemicals business
of Dow Corning, to serve as vice
chairman of the 2010 International
board of directors. During his two-year term Yarosh will help to shape
the policy direction of ASTM.
PPG SALES MANAGER YARNELL
ELECTED TO NATM BOARD
Ron Yarnell, OEM sales manager for
PPG Industries’ commercial coatings
group, has been elected to a 2010-
2013 term on the board of directors of
the National Association of Trailer
Manufacturers (NATM). Yarnell has
worked for PPG for more than 25
years, and he has been an OEM sales
manager with the PPG Commercial
Coatings group for nine years. He is
involved with marketing and sales
development for the trailer, cryogenic, ground support equipment,
and oil and gas mobile equipment
industries.
POLMAN ELECTED TO DOW
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Dow has elected Paul Polman, CEO
of Unilever PLC and Unilever N.V.,
to its board of directors. Polman
brings to Dow an understanding of
both the chemical and related downstream consumer products industries. Prior to heading Unilever,
Polman was a top executive of both
Procter and Gamble Company and
Nestlé. CW
