Interpon D2000 family. Interpon D2000
is a series of “superdurable” products with
five times greater weatherability than Interpon D1000 when tested in Florida, the
industry standard test location said the
company. Specifiers previously chose liquid coatings when such a bright appearance was needed, as there was no powder
alternative. This upgrade gives specifiers
the opportunity to choose the environmentally sound option in powder form.

AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings
introduces Dab2Fix
AkzoNobel Aerospace Coatings has introduced a new tool designed for fast re-touches to aircraft interiors—the Dab2Fix
paint application system. This touch-up
tool allows a controlled application to interior surfaces, correcting surface damage
in a simple and highly effective way said the
company. The sponge applicator ensures
small areas can receive a touch up repair to
maintain the overall appearance of the aircraft interior. Easily resealed, Dab2Fix can
be reused numerous times, is highly efficient
and minimizes waste. This environmentally
friendly touch-up concept is ideal for the
application of Aerofine 8250 Topcoat, offering an all round reliable, fast drying
touch-up system to maintain appearance of
aircraft internal surfaces.

Vermont Natural Coatings uses
whey technology to develop
wooden sports floorings
Vermont Natural Coatings, the Hardwick,
Vt., company using patented whey technology to create safe, durable wood finishes, has introduced an alternative finish
for gymnasium and racquet court floors
that contains no harmful chemicals, is
odor neutral and enables floors to be refinished in as little as a day. Vermont Natural Coatings MVP Sport Floor Finish has
been certified by the Maple Flooring Manufacturers Association as meeting its rigorous standards for gym floor finishes.
The high performance, low VOC
(volatile organic compounds) finish was
introduced at the National Wood Flooring Association trade show at Orlando’s
Gaylord Convention Center.
Vermont Natural Coatings wood finish utilizes whey protein, a by-product of
cheese making in a proprietary Poly-Whey formula that displaces toxic components traditionally found in wood
finishes, such as benzene and formaldehyde. The company’s products have been
named a Top 10 Green Product and are
available in 300 stores across
the United States and Canada.
Dunn-Edwards
introduces new and improved
EZ-Prime Premium Exterior
Wood Primer
Dunn-Edwards has improved its EZ-Prime
Premium Exterior Wood Primer, an exterior acrylic primer touted for its adhesion,
hide, enamel holdout and tannin stain resistance on woods that are subject to stain
bleeding. The new and improved EZ-Prime
Premium still provides adhesion to wood,
and now its tannin stain resistance is improved, making it an ideal primer for
woods such as redwood, cedar, T1-11 siding, exterior plywood, doors, windows,
trim and fences the company said. The
resin used in its formulation provides better tannin stain resistance by either blocking out or locking in the tannins present in
the wood so that it does not bleed through
to the finish coats. EZ-Prime Premium is
eco-friendly, ethylene glycol (EG)-free and
produced in the company’s LEED Gold-certified paint manufacturing plant. EZ-Prime Premium is ultra-low VOC at 50
grams per liter, and has very low odor both
during and after application.
NOF Metal Coatings Group
launches Geokote
NOF Metal Coatings Group has unveiled
Geokote, a new range of high-performance topcoats. With the aim of expanding its Plus and Dacrolub range of
topcoats, NOF Metal Coatings Group
launched the new line and like the other
topcoats, Geokote is applied onto Geomet
321 or 500 zinc flake coatings, enabling
the increase, with a very thin layer, of the
anticorrosion performance of coated parts
the company said.
Metallic parts used in the automotive,
heavy trucks, railway and windpower industries among others are used in very different environments. The aim with
Geokote is to offer new corrosion protection properties such as the resistance to
chemicals or repetitive abrasion. The company said Geokote’s chemical composition enables it particularly to resist
substances that are very aggressive such as
those contained in brake fluids.
