CIN (Corporação Industrial do Norte S.A.) is a Portuguese company that is the Iberian market leader for paint and coating products. The company was established in 1926
and is headquartered in Maia, Norte Region. In 2011 CIN generated $293 million in sales, of which more than 50 percent came
from outside of Portugal (France, Spain, Italy, China, Angola and
Cape Verde). 56 percent of sales were in architectural coatings;
28 percent industrial coatings; 11 percent protective coatings;
and one percent automotive refinish. During the year CIN
launched a new exterior paint capable of withstanding severe
weather, night condensation and mold. Nováqua HD is the result of years of research and is presented as the first ever paint to
come with a certificate guaranteeing its performance outside for
a full seven years. Nováqua HD is a 100 percent acrylic, smooth

Dunn-Edwards, founded in 1925, operates more than 100 stores in five western states: California, Arizona, New Mex- ico, Nevada and Texas. It supplies architectural and industrial coatings, providing a complete line of paints and professional
painting supplies to architects, designers, painting contractors,
homebuilders and property managers in the Southwest; it also serves
do-it-yourselfers, although professionals account for a majority of
sales. During the year, Dunn-Edwards opened what it claims is the
world’s first LEED-certified paint manufacturing facility. Located in
Phoenix, Arizona, the $40 million, 336,000-square-foot facility was
custom designed to be “green” and efficient. This ultra-modern
building encompasses manufacturing, product development, quality control laboratories, a distribution center, retail outlet and office
space and has gone on to receive various industry awards since its
doors opened in subsequent months.
