Taiho Paint (China) includes Taiho Paint (Dongguan), Taiho Paint (Shanghai), Taiho Paint (Japan) and Taiho Paint (Taiwan). Together these operations generated revenue of nearly $190 million in 2011. The largest of these operations is in Dongguan, which also serves as the company’s
headquarters and employs 1,132 people. Shanghie employs 218,
Japan 60 and Taiwan 30. General industrial and industrial maintenance, inlcuding wood coatings, make up 73 percent of revenue while the remaining 27 percent is attributed to architectural
and decorative coatings sales. In 2011 Taiho Paint (Dongguan)
invested approximately $2 million to expand production capacity by 50,000 tons. After implementation of the this increase,
total production capacity for all of Taiho Paint’s operations is
expected to grow past 200,000 tons per year.

its first product—Xylan 1010—which remains one of the company’s most popular products today. The firm’s wide range of products serve the industrial, automotive, powder coatings, houseware
and electrical component markets. Whitford operates nine manufacturing facilities worldwide in the U.S., the UK, Brazil, India,
China, Singapore and Italy. In 2011 Whitford opened its factory in

On the new technology front, Whitford has broken new ground
with its recently launched Xylan HB, which the company says answers the problem of achieving good film integrity at film thick-nesses over 25 microns, or one milliliter.
