Troy introduces new universal
mar and slip additive
Troy Corporation has introduced the latest
addition to its Z-Line of multifunctional,
environmentally friendly performance additives: Troysol Z372. Z372 is a high performance universal mar and slip additive
that improves the wetting of low surface energy and contaminated substrates, resulting
in uniform film coverage, according to the
company. Engineered for solvent, solvent-free, and aqueous systems, Z372 improves
resistance properties, gloss, and surface appearance in most systems. Z372 is well
suited for coatings and related products in
which surface slip and/or resistance properties, such as block, stain, or scrub resistance, are required. Like all Troy Z-Line
performance additives, Z372 is a zero
VOC, HAPS-free, APE-free product formulated with renewable resources.
Elementis launches DAPRO DF
5800F defoamer
Elementis has launched DAPRO DF
5800F, an aromatic-free, general purpose
defoamer used in industrial solvent-borne
coatings. It is suitable for aromatic-free
applications. DAPRO DF 5800F prevents
foaming caused by mechanical forces during mixing, production and application. It
enables foam release from the applied
coating and reduces fish-eyes, pinholes,
cratering and other surface defects.
DAPRO DF 5800F is highly compatible
with most systems.
Momentive introduces Axilat
HP8538
Momentive Specialty Chemicals has
launched new Axilat HP8538 redispersible
powder, for external insulation finishing
systems. The new redispersible powder
combines best-in-class performance and
water resistance with an eco-friendly product profile, according to the company. According to the company, HP8538 is ideal
for all EIFS layer formulations (adhesive,
basecoat, topcoat), but can also be used in
many other mortar applications. Properties
include outstanding adhesion to many sub-
strates, excellent adhesion in wet conditions and outstanding hydrophobicity.
Sartomer offers acrylic
oligomer for UV/EB corrosion
resistant and weatherable
coatings
CN9030 is a new difunctional aliphatic
urethane acrylate oligomer from Sartomer.
It is designed for high-end UV/EB-cure
coating applications - especially coatings
for metal surfaces where resistance to yellowing and corrosion are required.
CN9030 demonstrates adhesion to challenging substrates, including metals and
plastics, and produces films that are
strong and flexible. In addition, CN9030
is resistant to harsh chemicals, such as
methy ethyl ketone (MEK) and concentrated NaOH. Target markets for this
product include metal and plastic coatings; litho, flexo, screen and inkjet inks;
laminating adhesives and electronics.
Evonik unveils Tego Airex 921
deaerator for UV-curable
coatings
Evonik has launched Tego Airex 921, a
deaerator that has been designed specifically for UV-curable printing inks and
coatings for food packaging. The silicone-free product consists completely of raw
materials compliant with the A list of
Swiss Ordinance SR 817.023.21, Annex
6. Tego Airex 921 contains 100% active
matter, is free of organic solvents and
made of approximately 60% renewable
resources. The widely compatible deaerator can be used in clear and pigmented
formulations without impact on the over-printability and is highly effective. Tego
Airex 921 is offered as part of a new generation of deaerators from Evonik Industries with an emphasis on modern
formulations and resource efficiency.
Evonik launches Tego Airex 990
and 991
has introduced Tego Airex 990 and 991, a
new generation of deaerators and defoamers for solventborne high solids coatings. These liquid products contain 100%
active substance, are free of organic solvents and boast good recoatability, which
gives the formulator the advantage of setting the solvent content the company said.
Tego Airex 990 is a compatible deaerator
for clear and pigmented coatings,
strengthened by its ability to balance compatibility and effective deaeration. It can
be used in all types of spray applications.
Tego Airex 991 is a very powerful deaerator for pigmented fillers and top coats.
Even at medium to high film build, it
shows outstanding performance against
microfoam and macrofoam and can be
used in many different systems with particular emphasis on airless, airmix and
roller application the company said.
Keystone bolsters product
portfolio
Keystone has introduced a green and blue
addition to its line of surfactant-based zero
VOC pigment dispersions—210-415-22
Nero Tint Blue and 410-407-22 Nero Tint
Green—formulated for the waterborne
wood and concrete industries. The
Nero Tint line has been engineered to provide excellent transparency, high gloss and
uniform color in both spray and wiping applications, according to the company.
These products are formulated with high-performance pigments, milled to very fine
standards for ease of penetration, and are
exceptionally clean and transparent, as
well as very miscible in water or acetone
containing systems. Nero Tints have been
QUV lab tested past 3,000 hours with
good results the company said. Also on the
new product front Keystone recently
launched Keyplast Yellow F Solvent Yellow
104 chemistry for use in high heat engineering polymers. This dye will perform
well in polyamides, polysulfones, PEEK
and other difficult to process engineering
polymers the company said. CW
