In 2011, Kelly-Moore Paint Company, Inc. introduced En- viro Coat Reflective 1545, one of the industry’s first com- mercially produced architectural coatings designed to reflect
the sun’s radiant heat, according to the company. This eco-func-tional, exterior 100 percent acrylic eggshell paint lowers external wall temperature, allowing homeowners and building
operators to minimize air conditioning usage and save money
on utility bills. When applied to vertical outside walls, Enviro
Coat Reflective deflects a portion of the sun’s radiant heat away
from the building. Its infrared-reflective technology employs pigments preventing infrared radiant heat from absorbing into the
film and wall thus keeping exterior walls cooler. This technology
has been used in the roof-coating industry, but is now being applied to outside walls. Also in 2011 Kelly-Moore opened a new
store in Paso Robles, Calif., its fourth store in the region.
Kikusui Chemical Industries Co. Ltd. engages in the produc- tion and sale of architectural coatings, specialty functional materials, construction materials, and civil engineering materials. The company offers ceramics, building materials, paints and
crushed natural decorative material sheets. In addition, it involves in
the manufacture and sale of machinery and equipment. The company was founded in 1959 and is headquartered in Nagoya, Japan.
Under the slogan, “Work in Harmony with Nature, Work for the
Benefit of People,” Kikusui manufactures water-based and organic-solvent-free architectural paints and uses its own methods to minimize drainage and waste generated during the production process. In
addition, the company deals with natural paints from Germany and
allergy-free paints from Sweden. One such product is Milltex5, which
comes from environmentally progressive Sweden and are free of substances that can produce allergic reactions.
