In December 2011, Forbo announced it had signed an agree- ment with H.B. Fuller on the sale of its industrial adhesives and synthetic polymers businesses. Among the world’s leading suppliers of industrial adhesives, in recent years, Bonding
Systems has successfully strengthened its position in growth
markets by building-up new production sites, particularly in
China and Russia. At the same time, it has launched innovative
products to increase the share of specialty products in its offering and developed high-quality applications for key market
segments. The unit recorded sales of $662 million in 2011. Following the sale of the industrial adhesives and synthetic polymers activities, only the building and construction adhesives
activity will remain in the Bonding Systems division.
Benjamin Moore & Co. and Orchard Supply Hardware, a California-based home improvement retailer, formed during the year a strategic alliance that will yield distribution of the
129-year-old paint brand through the chain’s stores statewide. Currently, Orchard has 87 stores with plans to add another three this
year. Benjamin Moore will be Orchard’s exclusive supplier of architectural paint. Orchard’s Benjamin Moore product lineup will
include Regal Select, ben, Concepts, Arborcoat Exterior Stain and
Imagine by Insl-x, along with selected primers and applicators. Benjamin Moore’s award-winning low-VOC Aura Paint will be available in select Orchard stores only. Orchard plans began selling
Benjamin Moore paint in selected markets beginning in early April,
with all locations carrying the product offerings by end of summer.

Berger Paints was founded in 1923 and is India’s second largest decorative paints player with sales of $525 million in 2011. It is active in a wide variety of decorative and industrial paint sectors and continues to gain an increasing share of
the highly competitive Indian paint market. Apart from operations
in Russia, with a production facility at the Berger manufacturing
unit at Krasnodar, Berger has also expanded its footprint in Nepal
by setting up a second unit. Today Berger’s sister company in
Bangladesh is the dominant leader with over 65 percent market
share. In keeping with the company’s dynamic growth plan, Berger
has also acquired Bolix SA of Poland, a leading provider of External Insulation Finishing Systems (EIFS) in Eastern Europe.
Berger is also the lone supplier to India’s nuclear power plants.
National Paints Factories Co., Ltd. (Sayegh Group) claims the number one position in the Middle East paint market with an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons of exports to more than 60 Arab and other countries. It’s sales grew from
$347 million in 2010 to $493 million in 2011. National Paints is involved in a number of sectors including architectural/decorative ( 35
percent), industrial ( 35 percent), auto OEM ( 15 percent), auto refinish ( 10 percent) and marine (five percent). In recent news the company said it is currently in negotiations for the building of new
factories in Libya and Iraq. DuPont signed a DuPont Teflon surface
protector trademark license agreement with National Paints. National Paints will co-brand three interior and two interior/exterior
paints and a wood varnish with DuPont Teflon.
